Somewhat OT, but when I was in Southern California after Christmas I saw a couple of NHL games. Haven’t seen a game in person for at least 15 years, Enjoyed the Kings game. The Ducks game felt kind of dead. There was a lot to do before/after in LA. In Anaheim there’s basically just one restaurant across the street and the train station. Maybe a 20 minute walk to some restaurants in Orange. Did you the games that were against the FLYERS?

The former was a bit different as that's a downtown location and there were a ton of Knights fans there. And they're not the sole tenant and they rearrange all sorts of displays for the three major tenants. Ducks are the sole major tenant at the Honda Center. But it's out in the middle of nowhere. Kind of the old school approach of finding whatever empty or underutilized land there is and building a facility. Not bad but if they could have built an arena near Disneyland (and all the restaurants and bars nearby) it could have been like Staples Center (or whatever they're calling it now). I got my tickets pretty cheap too through the official resale market. The Kings ticket was $20 and less than $6 in service charges. The Ducks ticket was $36 and maybe $8 in service charges.

There is a bit more around the area, but a developer is trying to create a better environment around the arena and train station called ocVibe. www.anaheim.net/5157/Honda-Center-OC-Vibe

Bruins continue their roll with a 5-2 win over the Kings. Always fun to hear the "Let's go Bruins" chant wherever they go!

Seattle is going to the NHL playoffs! Took only two seasons. Beat the mariners 18 seasons and the Seahawks (7).

Any chance Ron Hextall is back as the Penguin's GM next year?

Any chance Ron Hextall is back as the Penguin's GM next year? Doesn't feel like it. Has never won a first round playoff series as the GM in Philly or Pittsburgh, uh oh.

Yeah, being a General Manager might not be his thing. That or the FLYERS sent him to Pittsburgh to bring their organization down from within.

Penguins are aging out just like the Blackhawks, Sharks, Red Wings, etc. The salary cap and lack of high draft picks eventually puts your team into a doom cycle.
