I wonder if Crissy will be staying on in some capacity? I thought she did a fine job.

Wow. This is surprising. Jen is great but thought it was a done deal for Crissy. Not always in the Know.

I hope Crissy Jones didn't actually want the job, it would seem a little silly not to just have her continue on and see what she does. The players clearly responded to her and it's not like the expectations are super high.

Wow. From a UCLA fan perspective, great hire for Cal. She will be missed on the Bruin sideline. Was hoping that she would remain a Bruin for a lot longer. Looks like Cal Athletics Department saw what UCLA fans did. She has a bright head-coaching future.

I am late to the game here but... I love our new hire! I see an NCAA tournament in our very near future.

I guess I never noticed this when it happened.
I checked the Cal website, and Crissy is not on the staff at all.
Does anybody know what happened to her?
EDIT: Never mind, found out for myself. She's an assistant under her old coach Keegan Cook, at Minnesota.

She was not asked back since she did not have the qualified coaching experience.

They won a few more matches (not that many) because Li was a huge upgrade and the lower half of the PAC was very weak, but they weren't that organized, didn't look prepared tactically, etc.

Anyway, since I am aware that recruiting and managing the staff and team are perhaps more important than in-season coaching, I don't really dispute that maybe she didn't have the experience Cal was looking for. But it was still a bit surprising she didn't get a position with the team that she was obviously very familiar with. Whatever. I suppose there are a lot of reasons that might have been the actual reasons, but I'm not going to guess at them.

They had the potential to do more this season than they did, the admin was not wrong to look for more experience elsewhere.

Cal Volleyball always has "the potential to do more than they do". It's kind of their thing.
