I just checked and they are allowing single sport subscriptions for the following: Baseball, Lacrosse, Softball, Tennis. Those are the current in-season sports. My guess (no inside knowledge) is Volleyball will show up once it is in-season. I got an email from B1G saying that it (my single-sport-VB) was no longer available, and that “As a result of this change and inconvenience, we will be upgrading your subscription to an Annual Conference Pass ($119.95 value)” for the duration of my current subscription (last renewal was in January). My guess (also no inside knowledge) is that it’s going away, and I’ll need to decide whether I want just-MN and lose the other B1G school VB matches, whether I suck it up and pay for all the sports I don’t care about in order to get all the VB, or whether I tell B1G+ to suck an egg. I tried the “all school” pass once and really missed being able to see other teams and ended up switching to the full one. I didn’t think I’d care but I did apparently after all!

The moral of the story is that we need to support all sports, and not just volleyball. I don't mind paying for all sports because I watch women's basketball and softball too.

Jeez, B1G+ getting greedy. I'd like to tell them to suck an egg, too. And the annual pass is BS to begin with because there's nothing happening in the summer. Scam.

Most likely, BIG promotion/push of BIG+ Annual Conference Pass will be followed with announcement 1/3 of BIG volleyball schedule must be viewed on Peacock.

This is the price you must pay to be the best. You have to open your wallets and pay for that success. It does not come free. If you choose not to fork over your dough, you can look forward to others moving by you and leaving you behind. If you don't believe this, just ask any Pac-10 volleyball fan.

And, that can be what happens when “the best” decides to kill the goose and get all the golden eggs. They lose the eggs, *and* the goose.

so who’s spot is she taking? Ariail or Miller? Miller I dunno…. Miller provides experience and she’s for sure one of the better middles in regards to successful block touches. She reads the block well, and most coaches would take that over a marginal increase in point scoring blocks per set. But Keller is, well, kind of a blah coach, so that may not matter to him. I’m not saying Favor can’t or won’t break the starting lineup, but just saying that Miller is a very solid middle.

If I were a betting man, the team I think is most likely to improve their overall conference record year over year is Ohio State, but that is mostly a critical assessment of how bad they were as a team last year. They just have a lot more room to be better. It would have been interesting to see had Fields had another year at USC where that program could have improved year over year. It's incredible how much Fields masked just how pedestrian of a volleyball team USC was. The fact that a single player could produce over 5 points per set, hitting almost .300, and half of the swings were out of system, yet the team only manage a 19-13 record, winning 51% of the total points, is a red flag for how good the team was overall. Even a marginal increase in points/efficiency/quality touches from everyone not named fields on the USC team could have made this a sub 10 loss, sweet 16+ team.
In terms of actual on court team improvement (not necessarily just wins but being better at the margins and just overall fundamentally better, year over year and relative to the field), I'm looking at two in particular Indiana and Washington. Indiana should be on everyone's darkhorse list. They return everything needed to compete with anyone next year - 3 solid pins, the passing rotation, and an impact setter that can push points. Add in the fact that Gary (who may just be the second best libero in the conference next year) has a year of experience under her belt, and by season end Indiana, as a team, was one of the best serving teams in the country, I think the ceiling for this team is pretty high. Re Washington, it may be the homer in me, but I also think returns too much talent to not to be just fundamentally better. A healthy Bush and the addition of Kiune gives the offense a lot more variability and a higher ceiling, the middles have a year of experience, and Wilson is a capable 5-1 setter. Washington already had stretches of high level play last year, and if they can side out more quickly when in a rut (which a better array of arms can provide), it's going to make this team a tough out. Top to bottom, it's probably the best team we've put on the floor since 2021.
