Ultimately the best two will make the roster. I just want the team to make the podium. I'm trying not to get too attached to certain players so that I'm not disappointed. I will say this, Plummer looked scary good hitting off of Carlini last summer. It was too small a sample size to make a definitive ruling but any setter that can get KP and probably Cook going offensively is going to be the starter. We already know that Carlini plays the best back court defense and is quickest getting to the ball in most OOS situations. I think LC has a lot going for her at this moment. I'm cautiously optimistic. We're going to need all the defense we can get if Mother Drews is starting and you already know that it seems destined.... that is unless miss JT gets it together.

Poulter hasnt played competitive ball in 2 years and is coming off a full knee dislocation. Ive never seen an athlete come back from that and reach anywhere close to their previous level.
Why are we just assuming she is ready to even be in the mix at a level to compete in the Olympics?
(Disclaimer, i love JP, just trying to be realistic)

I think the biggest thing re: Poulter is that she's at least in the gym for the past x-months.
Hill/Kelsey couldnt physically compete at their best for Tokyo.... as far as we're aware with Poulter, that's not the case.
Plus its Poulter. If there's anyone thats going to give them the best shot at gold, its her. (And she still has all of VNL to show what she is or isnt right now)

The last incidence i remember clearly was UCF quarterback Mckenzie Milton in 2018. He was a pro prospect, missed 2 seasons, and then tried to come back but wasnt able to keep a starting job at a different college.

But I feel like if Karch is determined to bring Poulter, then Carlini might be the best option for this Olympics since she runs the USA system better than Hancock and there’s a chance Poulter would flop bc she’s coming back from injury

If Poulter is going to Paris I'd expect Karch to bring the odd setter out as the 13th injury reserve player.

Assuming we take only healthy OHs this year... I think the ones on the bench are gonna be more important / have bigger roles than Kelsey and Kim did in Tokyo. Larson and MBH felt like the solidified starters and I dont think that situation will be the case this summer. Not only does it help if one of our OHs goes down, but if something were to happen to jwo, Kelsey could switch in a pinch and they could manage while still having 4 good OHs to make something work imo its too risky not to bring an OH as the 13th player, but karch has never seemed to avoid risk when choosing the olympic roster lmao. If Hancock doesnt make the roster I bet he takes her. Not sure if id say the same for carlini tho

Karch will send Carlini to the 13th slot.. and it'll be Poulter/Hancock again.
