USAV ought to have their butts kicked for putting 18s in a position to have to choose prom vs Nationals but agree with the many who choose to go to prom. Shame on the coaches who tried to force kids to give up their prom or even more bizarre who tried to get players to attend other players proms from the weekend before. Congrats to TAV for finally winning one with the amount of talent that has been on that team for years. You can't win with 18s. USAV moved it because some players are taking off for college in the summer. Now we can't have it earlier because of prom. Can't have it later than that because of graduation. How about first weekend in March.

I think the timing of Under Armour National Championship game in Louisville this season at the World Challenge was perfect. Talked to a parent who went with her daughter to Baltimore and said a number of the teams they played had 7 or 8 players. She also said Baltimore is probably not the best location for this event.

Agree first weekend in March would be ideal, qualified teams go to USAV an d non qualified teams can choose to go to Under Armor or AAU.

If you move it even earlier you have to move the qaulifers even earlier and most start mid Jan
Unless you allow more teams to qualify at a given qualifer for 18s only. Maybe 5 bids at each and have qualifers in Jan to first weekend in March and have nationals in late March.

That’s one of the stupidest takes ever on VT. Proms start in April, and go to May in some areas. And then you get graduations, and then you get back to having a late event. How is USAV supposed to schedule around events that take place every weekend?

Solution has been suggested. The timing of the UA championships during Jva worlds is the perfect weekend. I will say problem would be teams just getting back from spring break so might have limited practice. Ok, now that I say that there might not be a good weekend to do it

Multiple people already suggested and proved there was better dates that would have worked Einstein.

I would suggest that while not dumb...i know of 6 different proms in my area that were the weekend of the JVA World Challenge so just because the Baltimore weekend affected many teams with prom any weekend starting about mid April on would be difficult to please every team regarding this
There is no great date for 18s to please everyone. I am sure the tourney at JVA will likely grow especially in the Midwest

In the end USAV won’t move to March as it would be less money for clubs. Early March JVA Worlds timing would be great but there’s not a lot of good competition and Louisville is not easy to get to so I don’t see that being an option. The top clubs want to play top competition and to do that they have to stick w/ USAV and in the end it is the only National Championship that counts.

Wow! That is a pretty one-sided kind of opinion.
I'm not sure that an 18s event that includes at least a dozen open qualified teams is "not a lot of good competition", including 1/2 the top 10 at USAV Nationals.
I'm not making this a USAV vs JVA vs AAU debate but USAV is not the singular path to playing great competition.
I would love USAV or some other organization to get us back to a single affiliation but there are a lot of clubs with a lot of reasons to not support that structure. As with most things, it mostly revolves around money and ego.

First round of at-large bids should have been sent out yesterday, correct? Anyone hear anything for any of the age groups yet?

Agree it would be great to have one true national championship or event. We really do have that w/ triple crown it’s just in Feb, move it to March and all is resolved for 18’s but the next best thing is USAV due to the competition at qualifiers and teams playing to get that opportunity to play at Nationals. Not taking away from AAU and other recently created national championships USAV brings the most coaches and talent. Those are great warm-ups to USAV nationals.
