Betsi broke her toe, so I'm assuming she won't be ready for Doha and that's why she and Terese aren't playing. Per IG she just spent 10 hours walking around Disneyland so her toe must be feeling better.

Looks like they’ve withdrawn now 😞 This is a little surprising. Pavan/McBain are on pace to finish in the top 18 but just barely. They have 11 finishes and several poor finishes they'll need to replace. And they're in no danger of falling out of Challenger main draws if that's what they're worried about. Not a good sign in my view, maybe there's an injury involved. There are several other teams on the bubble playing this event that could make up some ground.

They are going to have to pay their way with no points guaranteed with only one finish required for qualification? If they play in a challenger event, they will definitely get points. Also, would not they not be the favourites in the the NORCECA qualifier?

Also, would not they not be the favourites in the the NORCECA qualifier? Could be, but they’re risking getting passed up by teams that are playing all events they can get into. I guess it’s a longer flight from Canada, and maybe they’re figuring the European bubble teams might skip the Brazil and Mexico events. If they play most of the remaining events and avoid injury they should be in pretty good shape. I just wish they’d give themselves more of a cushion. Agree that they’d be the favorite to win the NORCECA Continental berth if they don’t get in via points. I don’t think I’d want to leave an Olympic spot up to one match though.

What a great career (IMO) with back to back natty's beating u$c, couldn't have done it without them.
Tough playing the 1's in the competitive NCAA beach

Tough playing the 1's in the competitive NCAA beach Why is it sad? If they ever made any real effort to succeed maybe they would still be playing. Other than the Taylors, is there anyone else who epitomizes the BVB as a rich kid hobby than these two?

So Pavan and McBain withdrew and a few days later one of the McNamaras retired and in answering an IG comment said her sister’s “announcement” was pending. Hmmmmm.

Can't wait for the season to start. I hope the Dutch can get back in the top tier mix.
Other than the Aussies, hard to see any team that didnt win last year breaking through to win an Elite. Maybe Muller/Tillman.
I think the trend towards fewer winners at the Elite level continues. I think there were 7 or so the first year, then 5 last year, and probably 3 or 4 this year.

With sponsorship Im sure they could scratch out a living, but maybe just got burnt out like Ive seen other young players that have played at a high level during teen years.
