I didn't expect to see them since they don't need the points. Their passing on it also opens up the path for Treo and Mudinger to improve their position in the fight for a second USA berth.
It's been so long I forgot what we call them.. Milandy? Partandy? Anyway if they needed points they would be playing Guadalajara, and they're not. Just Tepic.
Menesh for me. Sounds like menace. Menacing block, menacing juke steps on defense. Yessss Menesh, thanks for remembering.

Dont they need the finish though? And the points for seeding once in the Olympics? I believe a team can only use 1 result from a Continental Championship tournament for Olympic rankings. Maybe they figure the 720 points they earned last year is enough, and the potential to add only 80 more points isn't much of an incentive?

I would argue the 80 is worth it, we have seen Olympic seeding decided by 20 points before..

I would argue the 80 is worth it, we have seen Olympic seeding decided by 20 points before.. And if they have any desire to be the best team in the world, they do need the points, they need the competition, they need the experience. They've skipped the last two Elite 16s, and now this. At some point you start to wonder if they even enjoy playing volleyball. I can't miss my weekly rec league games without going through withdrawal, yet these "professional" teams don't seem to mind taking 4-6 months off. They're missing one of only a small handful of opportunities to play in front of SoCal fans this year. They've ignored multiple false conflicting reports about why they aren't playing without a peep. They are basically silent on social media. This is the sort of thing that makes the USA men's teams difficult to root for.

Just noticed they’re on the Sandcast this week, so maybe they’ll provide a little clarity there.

How are the seeds determined? Looks odd that the Taylors are seed 3 ahead of Cri... one would think FIVB Entry or Technical points would be used, since it is qualification for an FIVB tournament.
Actually a break for Mudinger to face the Taylors in the semis if seeds hold, and not a break for Treo to face Cri in the semis.

I believe it was Miles' elbow or shoulder. Something to do with his arm. I don't understand people suddenly questioning their love of playing volleyball. Miles left in the middle of what turned out to be a championship season at UCLA to focus on beach. (Yes, Rowan was eating into his playing time, but even Speraw said that Miles' mind was already on Paris). Andy changed his game in terms of willingness to jump set and option more to be competitive internationally. You saw their emotion when they won Gstaad. Eight months later, and they have lost their love of the game? Injuries happen. Down time is sometimes necessary to recharge. Especially when the FIVB doesn't penalize teams for skipping events. Hell, they don't even penalize for forfeiting pool matches. Maybe even playing the points game to insure direct MD entry for the remaining Elites? The Swedes aren't going to the next Elite. Uh oh, they must be getting sick of the game.

Uh oh, they must be getting sick of the game. I don't think it's the points game. Menesh is qualified for Paris just by showing up at this point. The fact that they haven't played the recent E16s, nor are they playing Guadalajara Challenge, tells me somebody is rehabbing something.
