Not really, although Sophie/Heather do have a slightly higher average finish so they might pass Sarah/Molly once they get their 12 finishes in. Both teams are going to end up right on the bubble of the top 18, and after this weekend Sarah/Molly are probably going to move up past Liliana/Paula, whom they beat yesterday. It's really a huge break for Sarah/Molly to get into Tepic as a lucky loser, and they've taken full advantage of it. If they end up qualifying for Paris, this event will probably have been the turning point and also the one Sophie/Heather will regret dropping out of. I'm on the Pavan/McBain train cos I like an underdog story (Molly is the underdog). Haha, Molly is like the innocent bystander (but also unexpected beneficiary) among all the partner-switching drama!

She's been around for a bit but who would have thought she would be so close to making the Olympics? It's just random and Sarah is trying her best to get their team to Paris. Also, I just found out that Molly's brother is in the NHL and she can talk. Lol. Based off this video and her on court personality with Sarah, I'd assume she doesn't like Sarah's personality. Cheng/Hughes win 2-0.
It was 27-25 in the 2nd. Canada had two set points. All of Canada's serves were weak lollipop serves. Kinda of embarrassing to serve so weak against one of the best teams in the world.

Andy/Miles also run a service game that is supposed to be always in, and depend on the block and D.
Not a great block? Yeah, no choice, you've got to risk a lot of service errors to get your aces and OOS results.

Was it a mistake for Sophie Heather to take this tournament Off? I don't think you can answer that now. I personally think it was just because they have been playing so Much Volleyball of late they probably needed the rest, and its probably smartest to take this one off where they would have had the toughest time.
I do like cheering for both teams and go back and forth on who I am rooting for. Probably slightly cheer for Sophie and Heather only cause I saw them at the Van Open and think I have that slight connection seeing their first tournament.

They actually dropped out of Tepic weeks ago as I recall. How would they have known then that they'd need rest now? Seems like a better decision would've been to stay in and see how they were feeling after Guadalajara, and if they really needed a week off then, so be it. Yes, they would've been fined ($500 I believe), but other teams seem to have no problem dropping out at the last minute. And of course, there are other teams fighting for an Olympic spot who are playing all these events also, apparently without needing the extra rest.

Love seeing Chughes get past Pavan/McBain!
USA with no blocks again. In my opinion, this is an area they are lacking in most of the times I've watched them.

Does Cheng basically have NO HOPS, like, at all? She's a horrible blocker except sometimes at the end of sets she gambles into the angle and gets some timely blocks. I never, ever see her get anywhere near the press over, or height on her block, as the blockers do from other top teams. If she has no hops, I don't think it is a problem that can be fixed. Kloth has not hops either but her standing reach is probably 3" higher than Cheng's. Cannon has no hops, less than Cheng, so we have USA top 3 blockers can barely get out of the sand.

Lippmann/Ludwig vs. Stam/Schoon going overtime. Already 17-16.
Lippmann seems to be passing deliberately tight, to give Laura the option.
