Pitt rolled over Oregon in the first set, but Oregon made it closer in sets 2 and 3 than the 3-0 outcome would indicate without context.
Also, the Big Ten Network look great for volleyball. Great job showcasing the sport.

It would be near impossible to overstate how great a job Dan Fisher is doing. He’s as good a coach as anyone in the country.

I get off the plane to see this. Oof. Sounds like we just got served off the court?

Okay I saw this match live and this is my summary. Pitt played very very well. Their passing and digs were top notch, and that put pressure on the Ducks to go for more sometimes. Stafford for Pitt played amazing. Pitt's setter and libero were very good. The Ducks with new pieces, and still figuring things out, started off slow and nervy in the first set and didn't pass well, which caused problems. Ducks got much better in the 2nd with some nice blocking and passing improved. Mimi did her thing. Gregoire playing front row for Ohwobete was a nice set up and highlighted their strengths. Neal struggled a bit imo at middle with everything, but looks like Ulmer didn't think putting in Tvrdy was a better option I guess. Setting was pretty good, though sets sometimes were not high enough, and she didn't dig balls well at all. Would have also liked to see her go over on 2 once or twice, but she never did, so blockers never stayed with her. Ohwobete was really good in the backrow. Overall a B grade performance for the Ducks. They have some things to clean up, but against a top 4 team, it was a nice battle to see in the 2nd and 3rd. So close in those sets to getting them.

This team will get better with more court time. Go Ducks!

I agree. I saw this in person as well and Pitt looks solid and was playing very very well. Oregon had some passing woes and Morris did get aced a couple times on Babcock’s serves, but overall the passing evened out in sets 2 and 3. I was surprised we didn’t see Cline or Tvrdy at all, and I’m wondering if Purashaj has fully won the spot or if Cline will set tomorrow and see how things go. I was most impressed with Noemi Glover and her improvement. She only played 3ro but her blocking has improved and she’s a solid, physical presence at the net. The Ducks definitely miss Hannah’s fast feet, ability to better the ball and her rock star defense, but are showing promise with so many new faces! It was interesting that Patterson and De Los Reyes came in as serving subs for the middles. (Patterson in set 1, Reyes in 2/3). I’m not sure if that was Ulmer giving them some playing time or if they’ll be SS moving forward.

Tvrdy was biting her nails the whole time on the bench haha, so definitely nervous. Cline had some taping on her shoulder, so wonder if she wasnt 100% or she was beat out, not sure. Good question about the DSs. We will see.

Tvrdy actually had some amazing blocks in warmups when they were doing that quick 6 on 6 so I was excited to possibly see her on the court! I doubt they’ll redshirt her with only 2 other middles. She seems faster to the pins than Colby so I’m wondering if we’ll see her in matches against fast teams (although I wouldn’t call Pitt’s offense slow to the pins, so who knows.)

I get off the plane to see this. Oof. Sounds like we just got served off the court? Pitt also just was playing like a buzz saw for stretches but then Oregon would catch up with some nice play especially during Pitts 2 weak rotations. But when Pitt was in their strong rotations their transition game was too good
