A friend of mine is driving us from Madison to Milwaukee today. he's going to want to leave shortly after the UW-Stanford match, and I'm going to want to stay. We jokingly (or was it?) agreed we'd stay as long as Minnesota scores 15 or more in a set. I wonder how many sets we'll see... 5. You’ll see 5 sets with a big fat Minnesota W 😁

I love seeing a team of transfers lose to a team that has lost a lot because of transfers 😍 there’s a reason people transferred 😍

A healthy shaffmaster and new team attitude/ confidence makes all the difference. This is the best I’ve seen shaff since they last swept Wisconsin in 2022.

This lose might be a good thing for Texas. They need to figure on a starting setter going foreward. This rotating-setters thing is messing with the hitters' consistency, I think. IF we had to lose a game, I’m alright with it being this one looking at the schedule.

What a turnaround for Minnesota this is a defining win with the loss of Landfair the questions about the programs future. Everyone had bought in this team is going to be dangerous. Good for them. Texas has so many questions the season is long but who knows what will happen going forward. The “loss” of Landfair seems like much more of a gain for them to be honest Exactly. Hanson took so many big swings where Landfair would have just tipped or pushed. Not to mention her backrow play.

Is Shaff ever in the conversation for future NT appearances? I don’t really follow Minnesota boards but I am officially a fan of hers after tonight. She put on a defensive clinic tonight, and all other aspects of her game seemed excellent to the eye test (haven’t seen stats). Has she been injury prone? Inconsistent? Why don’t I hear about her more? (Or is this me living under a rock, which is entirely possible) The past two years following her knee injury she has looked extraordinarily slow and unathletic. She is a different athlete this year. I wouldn’t be surprised to see her there if she can stay fit and agile

Minnesota’s defense was the biggest difference. Amazing compared to their effort last year. Congrats to the Gophers. Texas needs more middle firepower..

But the short answer is no she is just not that good at setting which is the skills she should really be good at Edit: she is GOOD but not NT good

I swear this whole Texas/Wisconsin/Stanford/Minnesota tournament has me shaking my head. I can't figure out who is really good or bad... Obviously, Minnesota is underrated but I don't know what that means... It's not a real tourney with this weird format where not all the teams play each other.

Thrilled for her though, she was on fire tonight.

I think these early season big matchups are great positive boosters for programs that need a boost - like MN.
Flip side, I don't think the downside is as big for the losing top teams. We saw that last year.
I'm sure Wisconsin is questioning itself right now at 0-3. But that's 0-3 to 1, 5, and 6. They can obviously still have a great season.
