Swindle and Carlson need to get their shi together. That was horrible Honestly, Akana and Halter, too. The second contacts were worthless. But none of that was the reason they lost in the 5th set. Minnesota just flat out outplayed Texas to dominate that 5th set. That needs to be reviewed as much as anything. Texas lost the 5th set 15-7, and 3 of those points came from Minnesota serving errors. The middles were outplayed. As amazing as Halter was on defense - and she was amazing - Palayiyik was matching her on Minnesota's side. Shaffmaster was a difference maker in every phase. Setting, attacking, serving and defense. It felt like the Texas players trotted out there feeling like the name on their jersey was going to win the match for them. And it almost did in some ways. But the team needs the same kind of sense of urgency it found last year mid way through the season. I have so much confidence in this coaching staff at this point. It's a shame we're having a slow start again, but they'll figure things out eventually.

The “loss” of Landfair seems like much more of a gain for them to be honest Exactly. Hanson took so many big swings where Landfair would have just tipped or pushed. Not to mention her backrow play. I was out here BEGGING for Hanson on the outside last year over Landfair.

Let me move Wisconsin down to 20 and Texas to 19 in my notes for the next poll 🥸

I love seeing a team of transfers lose to a team that has lost a lot because of transfers 😍 there’s a reason people transferred 😍 Yea, bandwagon culture lol

Minnesota’s defense was the biggest difference. Amazing compared to their effort last year. Congrats to the Gophers. Texas needs more middle firepower.. Amazing what not having Landfair in the back row will do.

What a turnaround for Minnesota this is a defining win with the loss of Landfair the questions about the programs future. Everyone had bought in this team is going to be dangerous. Good for them. Texas has so many questions the season is long but who knows what will happen going forward. The “loss” of Landfair seems like much more of a gain for them to be honest Life and the journeys we take are made up of choices.

Is Shaff ever in the conversation for future NT appearances? I don’t really follow Minnesota boards but I am officially a fan of hers after tonight. She put on a defensive clinic tonight, and all other aspects of her game seemed excellent to the eye test (haven’t seen stats). Has she been injury prone? Inconsistent? Why don’t I hear about her more? (Or is this me living under a rock, which is entirely possible) Minnesota didn't bother to send her to tryouts in the spring (or she didn't want to go). They sent Grote, Wucherer and Swenson.

A healthy shaffmaster and new team attitude/ confidence makes all the difference. This is the best I’ve seen shaff since they last swept Wisconsin in 2022. I was thinking of that match too. Which was also against the defending national champion 🙂↕️

The one y’all call Z is so cute and charming to watch and a damn good L. Right? If she continues to tighten up on serve receive I won’t be surprised if her name gets tossed around with some of the great liberos by the end of the season.

But the short answer is no she is just not that good at setting which is the skills she should really be good at Edit: she is GOOD but not NT good lol like I said, I’m watching on tv with terrible angles as far as judging set location etc. but she just looked so smooth compared to the other side. Very collected, just getting the job done, seemed to create some opportunities for her hitters. Great dig numbers. But I totally get that in person, the location might be very different

Didn’t think we were getting 5 sets tonight.
Who would’ve thought Wisconsin is the only team leaving without a win this weekend.
