Our son aged out of club, so we won't be going this year. However, I have to say this is a great event if you ever get a chance to go. Also, spend the extra few bucks and get end-line seats. They are awesome and worth the few $$'s it cost for the upgrade. Just know that you need to get out of your seat during warmups. You're sitting maybe 20 feet from the end line, and the warmup balls are moving!!! One of the Pepperdine coaches joked with us one time during warmup's that we were sitting in the splash zone and she wasn't kidding.

The UCLA Fall Tournament is also being held a week later than usual on 11/22 and 23. I suppose Hawks needs more time to figure out where he left his brain.

Hawks never played college volleyball, is in violation of UCLA policy that Head Coaches must have a college degree, he did OK with recruiting, but then UCLA is the most popular university in the nation and has the legacy of 19 NCAA National Championships under Al Scates, so most kids want to play here and recruiting is not that hard. As an Assistant Coach, he was completely incompetent on the court, because he had no personal experience as a player and consequently, the guys on the team didn’t trust him. He also pried into players personal lives and was detested by many (but not all) of the players and parents. Bottom line, is that UCLA deserves the best and we got the cheap hire, just like Football did. - we have now lost 5 games in a row and barely beat a crappy team by 3 points. The AD seems more concerned with the budget than providing kids with the best possible coach, which is what they deserve, and that is definitely not Johnny the Hawks.

I would be interested is knowing where someone could see where this policy is stated.

In an article on former UCLA Head Coach for Men’s Soccer, Todd Saldana, the L.A.Times says that, “ UCLA requires its head coaches to have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited school”. Saldana caused a scandal at UCLA, because he got his degree from a “paper mill”. This is not an isolated case - George O’Leary was forced to resign 5 days after being hired as head football coach at Norte Dame, for lying about his degrees on his resume. John Hawks does not have any degree, so this is an illegal hire, by UCLA’s own rules, and his contract should be rendered null and void, with a search committee appointed to identify a qualified candidate, and an investigation initiated, as to exactly how this screw up was allowed to happen, and consequences for those responsible.

The annual UCLA SAC Fall Tournament is being listed as Pauley Pavilion this year, instead of SAC. USC's website is wrong. It will be in SAC.

Wasn't this originally announced as being 6 teams this year? 3 matches each day?

Wasn't this originally announced as being 6 teams this year? 3 matches each day? I wonder if they got feedback that 3 matches per day was too many for the club teams/players to attend. The SWBC tournament that runs in the convention center with this event starts at 8AM and usually runs until 1-2PM. So with 6 matches, that first match started around noon and was pretty sparsely attended. I think we missed most of the first match last year, or it might have been the year before, because we had the last match in the morning wave and it ran long. The same happened the first year when either FDU or Queens played their first match (I don't remember who went first that day).

Gobruins: If you check the UCLA athletic calendar, you’ll see that the 2023 SAC Fall Tournament was held on Nov. 17 & 18. The tournament has always been 2 weeks before Thanksgiving, not 1 week, like 2024.

Meaning the dates you posted 17/18, would’ve been the weekend before Thanksgiving! Furthermore this tournament date was in place before hawks took the job. Go away goblin

BS University of Phoenix 3.73 GPA ETA: not sure why linkedin link is not showing but you can google it to see he has a solid resume.
