Everyone on John Speraw's list, for starters. So, you can't really name anyone. I can, but it's a done deal, and I have no skin in this particular hire, and am not interested in trashing Hawk. He's been at a few programs, is well liked and I know him pretty well. The men's program won't fall into oblivion with most any coach, but I just think that it's a safe hire that further demonstrates that UCLA either doesn't have the resources or the willingness or the commitment to push for the next step of excellence (let's not forget how long it took Speraw to finally win his 1st championship at UCLA). As I said, that's good news for the other programs. |

I don't get it, Hawks seems like a good coach and has a history of doing good things. He was only at Loyola 2 years and did good things. Do you mean you don't get the criticism of the hire? Hawk is a good coach and a good guy, but do you really believe he is the best coach available for the best NCAA men's VB program ever? I do believe he is the best option and a great hire. Name someone you think would be better that would even consider taking the job. |

What justifications have been given by anyone on this board for deeming this a great hire? He knows SPERAW'S system? He would take the job at the salary offered? That's ridiculous. |

Hawks was the worst assistant coach in UCLA history!
He never played collegiate VB and never got a degree in any discipline.
The kids on the team hated him because he was a total jerk with zero knowledge or experience. Worst possible hire for UCLA and an insult to the legacy of legendary coach Al Scates. Brad Keller, Stein Metzger or Nick Vogel would all have been better. I feel sorry for the kids on the team - Hawks is a LOSER!!!

So what’s the over/under on Lindsay Brown moving to her 4th team in 4 years. I am actually really interested in this. From what I have seen and heard - she has great relationships with recruits and is respected by the players. I'd love to see her do really well. |

Last time I checked Kelly Sheffield at Wisconsin is proving the point of you never need to play college volleyball to be a successful coach. But nice attempt. |
