Seems like the dust is settling with AAU rules and clubs their line up mostly figured out. Who do you expect the top teams to be this season? Here are those that come to mind in no particular order: Looking forward to seeing these boys compete!
Balboa Bay MB Surf Rockstar Bay to Bay Winter Park (WPVC) Coast Pulse HVA MKE Sting Vanguard Adversity Yorkstone SASVBC Wave AZ Fear SC Legends Academy

I'd say you're missing Academy form IN and MKE Sting kids went to MVC so probably Sting will be bad, but same WI team will be good.

Why is the 949 17 team so good and the 18 team not so strong?

Why is the 949 17 team so good and the 18 team not so strong? Didn't 949 go through a split a couple of years ago that lead to the creation/elevation of SBVC and a couple of their big guys going to BB?

Academy, Balboa Bay, MKE sting are the only teams from that list to make it to gold at 16s and 17s.
Heard balboa loaded with new talent, Sting lost kids to MVC.
Academy added four kids this year. All kids from within the club but it’s the best 12 kids in the age group where in the past it was designed as a top 9 or 11 with a few training pieces.

If you are talking about that 949 16s team that split up a few years ago after the season it was only Kear that went back to SBVC. Rest split between Rockstar, Balboa and PAC. Was too bad as they were a small (only 8 players if i remember correctly) but really good team. I think they are all now playing in college as freshmen (mostly in D1).

I remember they were always in contention at the end of the weekend, and by the time they were 16, they were really tall.

Why is the 949 17 team so good and the 18 team not so strong? Regarding the 949 18's, after their 14's season their two best players left for Balboa Bay to become the starting S and OH. This started a slow departure of other key players to A4 and CA Volleyball over the next couple of years.

1) MB Surf 2) Balboa Bay 3) Bay To Bay 4) Rockstar 5) MVC (assuming the core came over from Sting) 6) HVA 7) Academy 8) Winter Park 9) Adversity South 10) MVVC 11) 630 12) Coast 13) MVVC 14) SASVBC 15) Vanguard
Only team I added not mentioned prior is 630 and I am assuming they have the same group back.
Like every year, lots of good teams, 1-5 are my the favorites to medal each tournament but in 6-15 there will be a lot of shifting with potential to medal occasionally. There are at least 5 more teams not listed that will challenge for top 8 finishes.
