2014 World Champs gold 2021 Olympics gold 2024 Olympics silver
All of these were over-achievements by Karch but he kinda forced himself to overachieve with his choices. (The culture after dumping Logan Tom and Hooker.)
There is no way he can do the same thing in men's side, there is just not a big pool of players and he won't do it.
I think we will see much more different Karch with men's team and I'm excited for it.

When does the men's team stop spin serving? So, tongue in cheek comment aside, I guess my concern with Karch is how dogmatic he can be. And perhaps, confusing correlation with causation. For example, the stats said that jump float serves were more effective than spin serves. So, USA no longer lets anyone jump serve....even Micha Hancock, who was an exceptional jump server in her professional league. And not taking into account that maybe, having different looks makes the jump float more effective. Or going "USA Fast", where only pin hitters who could hit a very fast ball were kept in the national team gym. He could do that on the USA women's side, where the talent level (especially physical talent) is pretty high. On the men's side, where the talent pool is much thinner, you are going to have to adjust to what the players do well to be successful. (Think Matt Anderson as a passing and bic hitting opposite). There is no doubt that Karch evolved over his time with the women....it remains to be seen how that works with the men. I'm hoping he succeeds...winning a home gold would be outstanding.

Love the underrating of Karch.
He's adapted his whole career. He'll figure it out.

From what I have seen, Karch has evolved his entire life, starting with playing adults as a preteen and everything since. His mis-steps have been few and he quickly corrects. He wants to succeed and he wants to win more than anyone and he has always figured out a way to maximize his chance to do it. The men's teams has its challenges but he has time and resources and I am excited to see what happens. I do not think we are in a good position for a medal at the moment but there is time to make some things happen.

Karch's first play... Dump Matt and TJ Neither of them are the least "Kumbaya" on that team, ironically. If they are heading that direction, it's a different athlete that needs to go.

Karch dumped Logan Tom unceremoniosly on his first day, and then pushed Hooker out a little later. That's what the post was referring to. I don't think people should expect excellent player management and relationships to be Karch's calling card. That doesn't mean he can't win, tho. Ah yes…. I missed your inside joke ….im slowing down. The difference is he doesn’t have the luxury of a massive well of talent to pull from that the women’s side offers. Clearly we all realize the approach and road to success will be way different for this program…..but perhaps Karch continues his chameleon abilities in the coaching arena. When your World Class Setter tells your top Asst Coach to “shut up,I’m not F#{£ing blocking line” and throws the towel to the bench and walks back on the floor, it’ll be fascinating to see how Karch handles coaching Men. Lmao! Karch is the GOAT at channeling extreme intensity and high expectations of his teammates and himself into gold. If anyone can relate and mentor that behavior, it is Karch.

Karch is the man for the job!
He may have fostered a kumbaya culture or whatever was necessary to coach a Women's team to be the best.
Karch is a warrior, he knows how to win, he has done this his entire live, anywhere he goes.
I expect he'll do the same for the Men's team.

I'm sure also with his relationship with Dunphy, that Marv will lend a hand as well.
