I went out on a long limb for this one, hoping there is enough bend to avoid the break. Gophers sweep, 3-0!

I haven't seen Michigan State play this year, their record is terrible but they did beat USC in LA.
It looks like Akasha Anderson has been playing well the last few weeks. USC had a ton of service errors. UCLA hit .353 against the Spartans in a routine sweep a couple nights later.
Another match where the Gophers *should* win but it's on the road so it very like *could* be interesting. Michigan State is not Rutgers, Maryland, Iowa or Northwestern...even if their record doesn't indicate that.

MSU's 1-9 does not feel the same as tOSU's 1-9 even though they have one ranked upset while tOSU's still in the hunt. Credit to them punishing USC's failed sweep attempt. Spartans will be hungry for another upset. Manifesting a relatively drama-free sweep for the Gophers nonetheless.

Who watched the MSU reverse sweep of a team we lost to in four[edit] 5 sets? msuspartans.com/sports/womens-volleyball/stats/2024/usc/boxscore/18227a similar hitting tale to our recovery vs tOSU in hitting turnaroudn after 2 sets MSU was hitting 19 16 60 .050 in the last 3 sets 39 11 78 .359 MN Presser for Michigans The team with the better sideout% wins each set The team that scores the most points when serving wins each set How often does the team that passes the best lose a set? inaccurate settting, Poor hitting? Opponents' blocking. Bottom line: if MN receives serves that lead to kills we'll beat MSU handily. If we give up service runs it will be a struggle.

Spartans will be hungry for another upset. Manifesting a relatively drama-free sweep for the Gophers nonetheless. MSU played Michigan, Penn State, Indiana, Purdue on the road to start the year, then Penn State, Illinois, Nebraska, Washington, USC and UCLA with Minny obviously on Friday. 8 of the first 11 games are against teams ranked or getting votes. 6 of them were against top 15 teams. Girl we are tired lmao Back half of the schedule is VERY manageable though. OSU, UMD, Rutgers, Michigan, Iowa, Oregon, UMD, Northwestern, Wisconsin with 6 of those at home. If you find a way to win 6 of those, that's a success. It's less than last year but we've had a pretty rough schedule this year.

Tricky week for the Gophers. In August I would have chalked these up as easy wins, but both of these Michigan teams are significantly improved. Gophs will struggle some against Sparty but I'm thinking a 3-1 victory.

Last week Hanson had 3 back row attempts in a sweep of Northwestern and 13 in 5 sets against Ohio State. Her efficiency in the back row jumped from .239 before tOSU to .275 after. More more more! 13 has to be a season high since she still only has 80 back row attempts total this season.
13 Hanson back row/144 total attempts for the team = 9.0% of the offense against tOSU
80 Hanson back row/2,621 total attempts for the team = 3.1% of the offense all season

I want to see zero telegraphed tips from MW tonight. She started swinging away against Ohio State and it made a big difference in the match turning around.

Why do they refuse to wear their black uniforms again? They were easily the nicest of any they have this year, and I feel like they’ve only worn them once?
It doesn’t really matter, but.. they just look like they are playing in Kohl’s t-shirts.
