Is ASU better than we thought? Or is Kansas not quite...?

Feel like Kansas just waited too long in each of the sets they lost to try to fight

Is ASU better than we thought? Or is Kansas not quite...? Kansas didn't look quite as good. These two teams feel super similar and the difference looked to have come down to serving

Cromartie fourth chance in last few points finally puts it down for ASU to take it in 4. ASU led by Cromartie and Cry with 15 kills, and Jeter with 10. ASU middles combine for 14 blocks and Shroll 24 digs. ASU just were in more in system and defended better. Good win ASU.

ASU wins 27-25 in the fourth.
I know it's only one game but my first seeing ASU and second with Kansas.
Not really impressed with either of them.
KU relies way to hard on Elnady, Bien didn't show up tonight except for serving, and Onabajo was totally absent.

Interesting Kansas stretches on the court immediately.

I thought KU was going to pull that set out after that straight down ASU block luckily came up off a KU foot

Is ASU better than we thought? Or is Kansas not quite...? Has anyone ever thought Kansas was a great team? Most people voted for ASU and I’d assume all the metrics predicted heavily in favor of ASU. I feel for Kansas, this is going to be a rough couple weeks and the Big 12 schedulers did them dirty.

I think many people aren't really sure where to put many of these top 25 teams who haven't been playing each other. But ASU seems surprisingly better than I (personally) expected. It will be interesting to see what the poll does on Monday.

Kansas has been a ridiculously balanced hitting team all season - but it was all Elnady tonight. They just couldn't get anything from their middles and never really had even a 2nd reliable option all match.
Both teams were solid on their floor defense - Shroll and Burns were excellent. Way more blocks than I would expected from these teams - made it tough to score.
Pablo thinks ASU is a very good team - Kansas were outscored by just 4 points in the match and lost both sets that went to extra points. Kansas was the first to 15 in the first two sets - ASU first to 15 and 20 in the last two sets - as it felt like Kansas was trying to catchup all night.

Unfortunate that Ptacek had a bad day, she’s been like a top 5 freshman MB for me this year.

EVolle has them at #11. Massey has them also at #11. Not sure the definition of a 'great' team - but they are something ~ a top 10 team. Arizona State is #7 in Pablo. EVolle has them #8. I don't know what people were thinking in terms of 'is ASU better than we thought'? I think it is been pretty clear all season that they have been safely inside the top 10 and something similar to Penn State for the season.
