Losing 3-0 to USC (if it happens) is unacceptable but definitely an indicator that Tamas will finally be on his way out. Illinois only has a few matches left in which they're not favored to get enough top 50 wins to call themselves a tourney team. Illinois consistently comes out flat in first sets and Tamas hasn't made the tourney regularly since getting one of the highest paid contracts amongst NCAA coaches. It's a reasonable conclusion that if they lost this match, their other top 50 chances, and (based on the past TWO YEARS closing cold on the road to lesser-ranked teams) losing to Indiana to end the season, they wouldn't make the tourney. Clown indeed. Child, I was there for Mike Hebert's first year at Illinois, don't try me. |
