But I honestly find the WE. ARE. TEXAS! GO. BIG. RED! chants the MOST annoying, and it's because of those chants, really, that I want those respective teams to lose. I know a lot of teams do similar things, but the "point Wisconsin!" drove us nuts in Milwaukee. Partly because 1 guy in our section was shrieking it at the top of his lungs. Even the Wisconsin fans around us were annoyed. The only thing Hawai’i really does is the BOOM with jump serves I’m glad we don’t have silly chants. Not even bragging, the Stanley has to be the most friendly place to play for other teams Imo at least

To rephrase the question: which group of 18-22 year old young women do you like to watch experience defeat, failure, disappointment the most? The OP is dramatic but this is equally as dramatic lol. It’s sports. Fans love their team and hate their rivals and want them to lose. “Which group of young women do you like to watch experience failure and disappointment the most” is a very similar mindset to those who feel women shouldn’t show their competitiveness on the court imo (trash talk, stare downs). No one talks whines about men’s basketball and football players being 18-22 when they get flamed. There’s definitely a line that shouldn’t be crossed, like personal insults or things beyond the sport, but simply wanting to see a certain team lose is far from it lol. Your take on this just furthers the fear of being critical of female athletes. No one cares when I fan says “I hate duke basketball so much I hope they lose every game this year”. When it’s about a women’s team tho, it becomes weird and they just want to see young women upset? 100%. Volleyball fans can be a little soft. A comment like that on the college football or basketball subreddit would be downvoted to oblivion. I hadn't really thought about the connection with trash talking and stare downs, but you're right. It reminds me of the pearl clutching when Sam Show was bat flipping with Oklahoma State in the WCWS (including an awesome one that resembled an axe throw). That wouldn't really happen in baseball. Sometimes, people get annoyed at bat flips, but they're usually salty fans of the team that just gave up the homer. Or possibly ancient fans who think that bat flipping is disrespectful to the game or whatever, even though pitchers routinely gesticulate and stare down a batter they just struck out. I think most baseball fans enjoy them.

It was the Stanford game, so it didn't happen too much lol The Wisconsin women's basketball players from the 70s we ended up sitting next to made up for it. They were so fun.

I think the most annoying thing any fan base does is Arkansas's Wooo-Pig-Soooey . After that would be Wisconsins ES/FU chant

I'll be surprised & curious if this thread gets any responses for teams that aren't: Nebraska Wisconsin Texas Stanford Penn State Pitt Louisville I remember a lot of hatred for USC (especially the “U.. S.. Cee-ya!” bump-set-spike) in 2004 when they were trying to three-peat at Nat Champs. One of the players (forget who) asked on camera “why don’t people cheer for us? We’re nice, too!”

Wisconsin -- If they lose, it benefits my Huskers.
Texas -- As a Nebraska fan, I always root for Texas to lose. Every sport, every year. They destroyed the Big 8 from my childhood and I have not forgiven them for that.
Ohio State -- As a Husker fan living in Ohio, I'm just over OSU.

Who doesn't like Pitt or Louisville? Pitt and Louisville probably Sure - that is because it is a rivalry. Outside of rivalries - it is pretty much going to be Nebraska, Stanford, Texas - then maybe Wisconsin and Penn State. Those are the schools people are sick of seeing win.

And Wisconsin STILL holds the record for volleyball attendance for an indoor match, ya know where games are meant to be played without wind and other elements. So Nebraska just couldn't stand it that someone else was first in something volleyball related so they had to fill their OUTDOOR football venue with Cornhusker loyalists. lol. Marquette actually holds that record, given that it was a Marquette home match. Even though it was 96% WI's fans?

Couldn't care less about Marquette volleyball. Just hilarious Wisconsin tries to claim a road game as owning the indoor attendance record. Even more hilarious a program that plays in a HS gym thinks it's theirs.
