I gave my sweet soul dog her last cuddles while watching one of our favorite movies this morning, so I am thoroughly numbed for any potential Badger-inflicted pain tonight. All I ask is the pain not be Gopher-inflicted and that we don't totally flop. Look respectable out there like sets 2-4 in Lincoln. Go Gophs! Sorry to hear that gopherhim! I echo the statement of hopes for a good competitive match.

Never easy to manage, but I hope the lifetime of snuggles provide the warmest of memories.

Former Penn State opposite (?) Jonni Parker, from seven or eight years ago, had significant hearing loss. Not deaf, but nowhere near normal hearing. So as a mechanism to raise awareness (and money) Penn State started holding a "silent set" match every year. The crowd stays silent, "cheering" with their hands, until the team scores their ninth point - nine being Parker's number. After Parker graduated, I think Penn State has continued holding the matches.
Tonight Wisconsin is holding a "silent set" match, with Parker reportedly being in attendance. Like they did at Penn State, they are selling t-shirts - five dollars per going to Parker's organization - that spells out "Badgers" in sign language.
Though I haven't explicitly read this, Kelly Sheffield also has significant hearing loss in his left (?) ear, and that may be part of how it came to be that UW is holding the event tonight.
(I'm worried about Franklin hitting a Franklin shot that makes us all gasp, :-)
Wow, I started to tear up reading this. I cannot even begin to imagine living in a world without sound and or lack of. Thank you UW for supporting this cause. π«Άπ»

Can MN duplicate UCLA's first set???
UCLA had a pair of 3pt service runs which made all the difference:
the first featured a pair of aces, the second a pair of blocks (I think on WI's first FB).
11 FBSOs 3 FBiT 2 transition kills. almost ALL of the longer rallies ended in WI points 3 blocks, 2 of which extended the second 3pt service run for UCLA. WI had ZERO HEs outside of the blocks 3 SA 3 opp SEs
The attack lines showed EXCELLENT shotmaking WI 12 3 34 .265 sided out at 16 of 25 64% UC 16 3 30 .433 sided out at 16 of 20 80% I think UCLA was blocked 2x, so they made only 1 HE.
To approach this kind of Final Four outperformance would require the ability to execute in serve reception and setting that MN has yet to show this year. I expect much lower H%, hopefully on both sides, and a better ability to score in transition for MN to be competitive.
If MN serves tough, strives for FBSOs and FBiTs by tooling, high hands, and activating their MBs they can hang with a stronger team.

I'll do my best to honor the silent set expectation but Sheff could help by keeping CC on the bench until the 9th point.

The players of both team must be quiet until the 9th point or just the fans?

Thanks for this latest installment of fun facts. That hearing aids aren't covered by all insurance plans is outrageous. What a cool thing that Jonni has done to try to help defray the costs!

The players of both team must be quiet until the 9th point or just the fans? IIRC, it was just the fans at Penn State.

lol I deleted my post. Did a friendly google search I initially was going to respond, "probably, because most of us know how to use Google" but decided not to be snarky (and since you admitted you googled, I can admit this ) hahaha totally fair!

The players of both team must be quiet until the 9th point or just the fans? Does this extend to Emily Ehman? and could she honor it even longer?
