60 hours waiting to see the replay... A yellow card was issued to GT after an over the net call after 2-0 FSU. It was a clear violation and had the GT player not hit the ball I don't think it was going over the net. I saw the ref put up a yellow after the arguing on the center line (over the net) violation to make it 9-12, but I never saw a red card. I saw no explosion from the coaches on the awarding of the point sanction. Were they warned that there was another sanction coming if they reacted? What purpose is served by the coach constantly stalking the sideline? Her antics re. the over the net call (clear violation) and non-call (a legal tap down) were two perfect snapshots. Her ass't. coach may be worse: negative reinforcing feedback looping. Is there a voice of reason on that bench? I've not watched Brazilian VB. Is demonstrative behavior the norm in South America? I worked with families that had a young adult with severe mental illness and one of the hallmarks of their dysfunction was "high EE" expressed emotion. High level competitive sport competition requires focus. If your coaches are getting into your head and activating your emotions it becomes much more difficult to concentrate and be in "the now" and your focus becomes much more difficult. Who doesn't tense up when being scrutinized for every possible less than 100% outcome? Energy tied up in your emotions is energy unavailable for peak performance on the court/pitch/field/diamond/rink.
