Merritt came up big after a few subpar matches. Good to see the Empress get back on track. Landfair with a few huge timely kills that few could pull off. I will take it against a great opponent who will test your limits She was on fire. If Volleyball doesn't work out at the professional level she will easily have a future in modeling.

Will not take for granted going 6-0 vs Wisconsin!! Very happy Husker fan!! Right. Wisconsin has dominated most teams last several years. I wonder how long it has been since they were swept by one team twice in a season? Has to be many years. Could be a long time before it happens again.

I am not a Krause fan but not playing on senior night when they are up 2-0 is brutal. Damn This isn't high school. It's division 1 ncaa sports. Krause has started and finished vs against 7 Top 20 opponents this season, But go off with the high school stuff

Watched the post game presser with Merritt and Rebecca and was really surprised to hear a very emotional Merritt say that when she left Florida, she hated volleyball and was considering giving the sport up. She also said she was not happy with who she was as a person at that time. I know Mary Wise raved about her character and leadership skills during her time there, but you never know what these young students athletes are going though. So much pressure on them. Can't help but wonder what happened at Florida for her to grow to hate volleyball. She was one of their 2 best players.
Merritt said everything changed when she got to Nebraska and is so happy to have made the decision to go there. It is good to see her and teammates get the recognition and perks they deserve. They are rock stars. Nebraska is so fortunate to have her. Cook has said she is a gift. I'm sure hoping the Huskers can send the seniors out on top this year.
Very interesting to hear Rebecca talk about how hard it is to play at Nebraska with the expectations and standards you are held to on and off the court. She said the games are often easy compared to what they go through in practice.

Nebraska opened a big can of whoop ass. There is no way they are not getting back to the Title game again. Well, for the sake of everyone involved, all you can ask for is a situation that has the best teams there at the end (insert “best teams” definition and arguments here). Sometimes the best teams aren’t the best performing teams at tournament time. Sport is a funny thing in so many ways. Certain matchups can give teams fits … matchups that you might never expect would do so. With everything these athletes go through under the microscope, it’s not inconceivable that there may be a breaking point somewhere down the line (physical or mental). It’s extremely hard to win championships no matter how talented a team is. Anyone on this forum that has lived it will know that and the rest of us won’t. It would be nice if every athlete showed up with their best during the tournament but that’s just not realistic … that alone opens up the possibility for unexpected results. It’s what makes watching both exhilarating and gut-wrenching. Just hoping all of these athletes don’t define themselves using sport performance as the only criterion … most of the spectating world will unfairly do that for them. The pressure is mounting (external certainly and most often internal as well). The athletes can’t forget their past performances in big matches, good, marginal or bad, no matter how hard they try. The mental side of sport is fascinating. I would also think this group will return but, then again, I didn’t foresee their passing in the finals last year breaking down to the extent that it did. Good luck to all of the athletes who will soon be navigating everything that goes along with this tournament - hopefully it’s as fun for them at some point as it is for us. 😁

She has indeed been a gift to the Husker program, and brought this fan an unexpected amount of joy.

Really disgusted by Wisky’s setter being over the centerline at least twice last night. Have some spatial awareness with your body ffs before you injure an opponent. The refs need to watch this setter better.

The refs need to watch this setter better. Correct me if I’m wrong, but can’t a player be over unless it interferes with play on the other side? and then it’s a judgement call by the official. I could be wrong.
