Isn’t Babcock comparatively raw experience-wise? Regardless, she’s top of my draft board. Played since she was young but only started club in 2021 because she was an elite goalkeeper in soccer. Rightly or wrongly, this translates to value not just in terms of untapped upside, but also in terms if durability just because her shoulder is not worn down by thousands upon thousands of swings of overuse from that period.

Florida isn't helping that cause for Kennedy lolll

Martin plays on a less dominant team with less consistent setting and she carries them. Everyone knows who the ball is going to and with more help she could probably be even more efficient which is crazy. I'm taking Martin, only for this reason. I think her blocking and serving skills can improve in time. Pair her with a really good setter and 🔥🔥. As a general preference, getting SA's can be streaky, so I'd prefer points from kills. There is something both beautiful and demoralizing for opponents when watching a player who is known to be getting the ball, yet they are unable to stop them.

Hawaii this year I’m taking babcock. Her block alone would help us tremendously
But for someone like Texas, I think I’m taking Martin since they just need someone to get kills at times
It all depends on the team but both truly are just insane talent wise

Why not both? Set from the middle and let them both play 6-rotations lol

NCAA-wise I would take Martin. I feel like with the right training she could develop into a better blocker/server. As far as at the pro-level, I’d probably take Babcock. She just seems a little further along footwork/development wise. Which one has better floor defense?

I know it’s not a huge difference but I do feel like it’s different then defending zone one.

I’m taking Babcock 6 times out of 10 because she has the edge in her insane all around game, but both are undoubtedly the best opposites/pins in the NCAA and I wouldn’t have a second thought about someone picking Martin instead, her ability to be terminal is unmatched.

Babcock can still get kills at a high level and she’d help out our first year middles a LOT blocking. she also adds another weapon behind the line. idk, with Madi I think Babcock is the better fit. next year, id rather have Martin though, every day of the week

“Pair her with a really good setter” She’s playing with one to the best in the country (albeit recovering) and one to the best in the 24 class and is hitting .381. So… Martin plays on a less dominant team with less consistent setting and she carries them. Everyone knows who the ball is going to and with more help she could probably be even more efficient which is crazy. I'm taking Martin, only for this reason. I know it’s not a huge difference but I do feel like it’s different then defending zone one. Playing zone six defense is generally easier and get you more touches than zone 1. More time, it’s the most common area attacked, you pick up a lot slowed by the block, and don’t have tip duties. I don’t know why Martins dig numbers are so low. Babcock is the better defender and it isn’t particularly close. Her form is not great but she has much quicker reflexes due to the years of waterpolo and soccer goaltending. Athleticism goes a long way in most sports.
