“Pair her with a really good setter” She’s playing with one to the best in the country (albeit recovering) and one to the best in the 24 class and is hitting .381. So… I'm taking Martin, only for this reason. I think her blocking and serving skills can improve in time. Pair her with a really good setter and 🔥🔥. As a general preference, getting SA's can be streaky, so I'd prefer points from kills. There is something both beautiful and demoralizing for opponents when watching a player who is known to be getting the ball, yet they are unable to stop them. I was going off what jwvolley said, and I quote, "Martin plays on a less dominant team with less consistent setting." I think they're referring to this year's setting inconsistensies, including injuries, new setter, running a 6-2, etc., versus having one quality setter full time.

Hawaii this year I’m taking babcock. Her block alone would help us tremendously But for someone like Texas, I think I’m taking Martin since they just need someone to get kills at times It all depends on the team but both truly are just insane talent wise I'm curious what people here think would be the result if these two switched teams? I mean, team dynamics are huge. Would Babcock have the same stats as a Gator? Also, it hasn't been said yet, but I'm going to address the elephant in the room. Coaching has to be a major contributing factor to their respective stats too, no?

Coaching has to be a major contributing factor to their respective stats too, no? Babcock is too competitive to consider playing for a team like Florida. The two switching teams would be bad for Olivia’s development, and good for Kennedy’s. Kennedy wouldn’t have to shoulder as much load and would play as a true RS. Maybe her blocking, defense, and serving would improve. She’d hit D balls which would be great. I don’t know how much you can blame Wise, players don’t go to Florida with the expectation they’ll be prepared for the national team. She’s trying to win games so she has Martin playing defense and hitting out of a position that gets her the most touches. I don’t know if she cares about developing players at this point in her career. Fisher cares more about improving players for a national team he expects to inherit. If Martin doesn’t go pro, I’d hope she finds a program with a young setter (Louisville, Nebraska, Wisconsin) that is better at developing players.

99% of American right handed opposites have bad footwork.
Even the ones who made bigger stages like Kipp. JT improved a lot but eventually her footwork wasn't great.
Comparing Babcock and Martin, Babcock has better footwork and also more ways to attack, get a kill.
Both of them need to improve a lot to become an elite international opposite but Martin needs great coaching and keeps working on fundamentals much more.
It's also weird that an average American setter has better footwork than a good non-american setter. So much focus on setting footwork from American coaches but not for opposites.

America produces setters and OH's, not oppos. Remember, we want to be taking 'we' swings, not 'me' swings.

Babcock. Vibes only, but I just find her scarier.

Babcock is the best pin blockers I have seen in quite some time and her ceiling is soooooo high. I would say I want to see her backcourt game improve on both offense and defense but we won an olympic gold/silver with annie drews shanking freeballs so maybe it actually doesn't matter

I love annie drews so much! I do, however, say a small prayer every time a very slow roll shot is hit to her in right back!

This is a dumb question, but from another thread are they considered international style oppos? Like what makes an international style oppo?

More often play 6 rotations and are just a bigger focus see this is where I get confused, because Beason was specifically mentioned as not international style, is that because her swings are not complex or that she rarely swings on a d ball?
