There is no good way to do it with LOVB and other leagues in waiting to choose from. Plus PVF competition dates are early January. Sheffield is disappointed? I am disappointed that you are at a HS tournament during dead period: i am disappointed how tou bingo to increase exposure for wisc without regard: i am disappointed when a club coach calls to say if my girl goes inro portal are you interssted? One of my favorite narratives is all the Wisconsin haters on here who act like Sheffield maliciously dressed in disguise and sat in the back row of some club tourney to secretly and illegally recruit. He was standing out loud and proud for everyone to see with Wisconsin gear on and had no clue it was dead period. He immediately left upon being notified and then reported HIMSELF to the ncaa. I’m not a Wisconsin fan so a response trashing Sheffield or that program will do nothing to try and get back at me btw lol. Just think it’s silly people try to paint him as some sneaky bad guy because of that instance ALSO, in case u were unaware, most of the top athletes who enter the portal send out feelers before they actually enter. Including the ones from ur favorite place hope this helped

Of course athletes who are transferring ise their club to get a feel, and yes he stood out there in plain sight, which makes it disappointing that he either A) didnt know the rules? Or B) flaunted the rule? Kelly has achieved a position of high standing as a successful VB coach and his soap box needs to be now disappointed when a group makes a major financial effort to make womens volleyball a better! I expect better feom him and i hope he expects better of himself

...apparently his wife is working for. (I don’t know what the deal is there) It appears Kelly's wife, Cathy Sheffield, is a coach at Madtown Juniors volleyball club, which is a LOVB youth club. Calling her an employee of LOVB is a small stretch. Yeah, I had no idea what her role was. That being said, his wife coaches at a LOVB club, his daughter plays there, and his assistant/former player is going to play for the LOVB pro team in Madison which will be playing matches in their home arena. LOVB is obviously wining and dining him in every way possible to be pro-LOVB and therefore anti-PVF. He isn't a neutral party.

His former player/former assistant coach is LOVB Madison's director of ops, and the father of his big time recruit is LOVB Madison's head coach.

The Onabanjo shade! "Let's take a look at her highlights... moving on!" They just don't have a lot of highlight clips. I think the setup for the draft is appropriate for the league but the lack of highlight reels for some players is disappointing. I don't understand this format at all. Talking heads -> Draft selection -> CEO announces who will pick next -> talking heads. So SO many dead gaps of 3-6 seconds where everybody just sits and waits. Cutting to the CEO kills all momentum. And not having a highlight reel for every player is unacceptable. I get not having them all together in a green room for reaction shots like NFL/NBA drafts, but give me something to get excited about the player. I'm usually a function over form kinda guy, but in this instance, the form is the function, your job is to look good to the rest of the world and this is not it.

Kelly may have less than clean hands in terms of business relationships, but he is first and foremost a coach who is trying to keep his team focused on the road ahead after his senior captain had this to say following the Nebraska match: “It’s just bad because we didn’t put up a fight,” said senior captain Julia Orzol. “It wasn’t a loss with fighting spirit, competing to the best of our abilities. A lot of things were not clicking and we did not put in enough effort to figure it out early enough.”
“Each set we were able to come back but we need to toughen up to stay in those endings in the red zone and not panic,” Orzol said. “I feel like that’s happening a lot. It needs to happen individually, but also bringing people around with you. That’s a super important thing that we need to be better at.
“There were just too many errors that just got in our way of gaining any momentum. Being able to find a way of jumping on them instead of being dominated. It hurts. If you go down after playing good, quality volleyball, it (stinks) but you can live with that.”
Is he worried about more distractions? Of course. Should he be worried? Absolutely.

I guess Kelly just got outcoached then because Cook and Nebraska were dealing with the exact same thing.

PVF doesn’t own the rights to any ESPN highlight packages. Looks like they reached out to schools for highlight packages that were produced by the athletic department. And they were at the mercy of what the schools sent. Not sure what more they can do.

I'm usually a function over form kinda guy, but in this instance, the form is the function, your job is to look good to the rest of the world and this is not it. The flip side is that the coverage of the PVF draft was a free stream on its YouTube channel that had a peak live viewership of about 3,000. Was it great TV? Certainly not. But I don't expect a free stream on YouTube to necessarily look like a show produced for national TV that airs on ESPN. A day later, the archived video has logged 27k views on YouTube. According to a popular online YouTube money calculator, the video for the PVF draft has generated $51 in revenue as of Tuesday mid-afternoon. The league went to the expense to hire national-TV figure Holly McPeak as one of the co-hosts. To my eye, the beleaguered talking heads did the best they could to fill three hours of streaming time without, as you pointed out, the benefit of much production support. I will readily concede that the production values were lacking, but what should be the expectation for a 180-minute live show that seems highly unlikely to return even $100 in revenue to the league?

I guess Kelly just got outcoached then because Cook and Nebraska were dealing with the exact same thing. I guess you don't read and comprehend very well. Orzol was talking about herself and her teammates, not her coach and certainly not about the Nebraska players and coaches. You just like to pop off about Sheffield so, whatever.
