All I want from the final poll is for the "experts" (and they are experts) to tell us who they think the best teams are and rank them in that order. I don't want them to mirror the NCAAs unless the NCAAs actually mirror their opinions.
If they don't do that, it's a total waste of their time and worthless to us.
OTOH, they've never had as low a seed as Tennessee or a non-seed like Santa Clara make the finals. So that may push your historic data into irrelevance. We shall see.
And it's Mr. (R)! to you, Goof.

There had been years before the early 90's that the poll didn't even have the national champion ranked #1 in the final poll.
We've known for many years that the poll is relatively worthless but it still gets a lot of debate going in here week after week and year after year.
You're actuallt "Mr. (R)uffda, You Ninny" on a formal basis as I recall.

It's not worthless during the regular season. It serves a purpose.
It doesn't have to be worthless post-season.

I will go out on a limb and guarantee that this year the national champion will be ranked #1 in the final poll (as I thought they should have been in the first poll).

Well, it isn't much of a limb. The national champion has been #1 in the final poll for like at least the last 12 years.
