Washington and Nebraska have the lock on the first two spots in the final AVCA poll - order to be determined Saturday. However, as bad as Tennessee and Santa Clara were blown out in the semi's, I'm not so sure the coaches will put them up into the top 4. Would like to see what others think. My guess is Florida at #3 and Penn State at #4.

I could see Florida at #3, but I'm not so sure about PSU at #4 as they lost in the region semis.

Well the NCAA folks put this stinking draw together....they should live with the results and accept the fact that according to their great tournament work that Tennessee and SCU finished 3 and 4......that's how I would vote because I think that Tennessee was clearly a better team than SCU last night....but then again, WHO REALLY CARES!

I could see Florida at #3, but I'm not so sure about PSU at #4 as they lost in the region semis. Tennessee beat both Florida & Penn State in their most recent matches. Penn State on their own court. If anyone is put ahead of UT, Florida has more of a claim than anyone else. Too bad they ran into Nebraska so early this yr and Stanford in Round2 last yr. In recent years the top four have generally (if not always) been the teams from the Final Four and Tennessee played better than Santa Clara in their respective national semifinal matches.

Does it really matter?
Probably only to coaches who have incentives built into their contract based upon where they finish in the final poll of the year.

It might matter to pootential recruits to programs like Santa Clara or Tennessee in knowing those teams finished ranked in the top 4 in the nation.

That's just silly. It should mean much, much more that the program went to the Final Four. The poll is nice to have until the tournament starts. After that, there's no point -- _especially_ if they aren't going to vote for who they actually think is better.

Tennessee beat Penn State, Florida, Notre Dame, Minnesota, and Missouri at the end of the season proving that UT was better than those teams at the end of the season. I think that recognizing the teams success in the final polls is important for the young ladies who have devoted their college careers to improving the program. They made the finals! Why on earth would they need the poll?
My objection is to a poll that is just going to mirror the NCAAs. If they aren't going to actually tell us who they think is better (and thus give the whole enterprise some validity), who cares?
