While a fan in the mid-to-late-90's at the University of Idaho, I was a much appreciated fan. As was everyone who attended a match, whether it be their first or 200th. The team, coaches, and staff made the enviroment a cozy and friendly one and were sincerely appreciative of our support. During that time, Memorial Gym was a top 25 attendance gym in the nation pulling some 1200 average fans (in a 15,000 person community) for each match.
Now, in Honolulu, I come across the same type appreciation, although, at a different scale, but the atmosphere and fan appreciation is genuine and true.
This type of feeling is definitely abundant throughout the country. What I want to know is where. I'd like to know who of you fans feel appreciated?
Perhaps we can look at our remarks, compare them to the national attendance averages, etc. and make a case to make fans more appreciated?
I would love to hear your stories.

At Wisconsin, I was impressed that the coaches (Waite and Wilde) held a clinic for the fans to review volleyball rules, etc. There were apparently a number of us who had written them asking for something like this. There wasn't a lot of advertisement, so it seemed it was meant for the core fan base and not as a draw to pull in new people.
The program has worked to make the half-time shows more entertaining, plus they added one of those air jump-around-things for the little kids to use up their energy in the concourse. There seems to be a new improvement each season.
They've been sending out post-season surveys to season ticket holders. Do many/most other schools do this?

Of course, I take a lot of satisfaction ;D in hearing about the Wisconsin clinic, because I like to think it ultimately resulted from discussions we had here about booster club activities, and particularly, Purdue's Volleyball 101 program (that drew 70 people to attend the third and final session, where Asst. Coach John Shondell talked after the Michigan match last fall, greatly exceeding our expectations (and our capacity)). Bucky fans took these ideas to the coaches, who went with it. Your welcome!

Oops, not used to writing on this board. I meant I saw this as a positive reward for the fans. Didn't mean to sound critical... p-dub: Yes, thank you!

A-Mac, cute pic. How 'bout a date? Careful Alberta, he's from the deep south, what the sign doesn't say is that HE is marrying his sister. Shotgun wedding-style.

I forgot to put my rolling eye thingy on my post so maybe you took me seriously. BTW, Florida is not the deep south, even though we are in the south, we are not the 'deep south' where they marry their sisters. They do that in Tennessee (that's why the Vol fans are so insane...small gene pools magnify those traits), Georgia (except within the city limits of Atlanta), Alabama, Arkansas, and especially Mississippi.
