Speaking of Fab 50 2006, why are Engle (Texas) and Kaufman (Hawaii) are not in it? I remember reading about Engle being a FOY candidate and Kaufman being so athletic.
Volleyball Magazine even had an article about Engle about 2 months ago.

Volleyball Magazine even had an article about Engle about 2 months ago. Vball Mag actually stated a retraction the following month stateing that Ashley Engle was suppose to be on the list and was accidently left off.

How do you accidentally leave off one of the top prospects of the class?

top 5, not top. megan hoge was the top prospect. Hence which is why Alberta said "one of the top" prospects.

The full 2006 list is on Rich Kern's site. It is very different than the top 100 senior aces that Tawa puts out.
There were some top 30 players in the senior aces that were not fab 50's, but there were some players who were not even in the top 100 senior aces (they were listed in the "other" 150) that DID make the fab 50 list.
In the end it's just two different opinions, no one really can say at this point if one if more accurate than the other. Just look at that 2002 list, there are several names listed that seem to have dropped off the map since then.

The 2004 list seems to have the most "impact" players that actually panned out. Most of the players on this list have been successful .. unlike some prior lists.

Perhaps it had something to do with who was helping with the list?
I really think the other lists -- 2002 in particular -- reflect VB Magazine's west coast focus. I'd like to think that list gives us all some hope that Stanford's upcoming recruiting classes might also be overrated, but I'm afraid that's just a pipedream.

LOL..yeah, Stanford and Penn State have ridiculous talent. With some of these lists, I think it might be interesting to see if we can identify players that should've been on the list based on the actual college career. For example, who should've been on the 2002 list that wasn't .. now that they've completed their college career. Melissa Elmer comes to mind, but wasn't she a total mess as a frosh? I'm not so sure she should've been on the list.
