I heard it was due to Marci having played in this particular tournament for the second year and KBow played in it just this year, hence a 3 match suspension for KBow and 6 for Marci. It would be nice to get more of an explaination as to why they were suspended and not Simpson and Carlini from Wisc, who also played in this tournament. It does give the appearance that they were punished for winning.....WEIRD is right!

But KBow played last year, according to the site.
Oops. I probably just got her another 3 match suspension.
And Lorenzen and Bladlow.

All I can figure it's because they helped JBow win money or because JBow was a pro. But that doesn't explain last year.
And has JBow actually won in any money in this "pro" career?
I don't get it.

It also doesn't explain how players for D1 teams in the past have played on teams with professional players but were never suspended by the NCAA.

16.1.1.2 Awards Received by a Student-Athlete While Enrolled as a Full-Time Student. The awards limitations of Bylaw 16.1 apply to awards received by a student-athlete while enrolled during the academic year (i.e., from the beginning of the fall term through completion of the spring term, including any intervening vacation period) as a regular student in a minimum full-time academic load, or awards received by a student-athlete while representing the student-athlete's institution at any other time. Such awards may not include cash, gift certificates, a cash-equivalent award (i.e., an item that is negotiable for cash or trade or other services, benefits or merchandise) for athletics participation, or a country club or sports club membership.
16.02.4 Pay Pay is the receipt of funds, awards or benefits not permitted by governing legislation of the Association for participation in athletics. (See Bylaw 12.1.2.1 for explanation of forms of pay prohibited under the Association's amateur-status regulations.)
16.1.1.1 Prior to Enrollment Awards received by an individual prior to enrollment shall conform to the rules of the amateur sports organization that governs the competition, but may not include cash that exceeds actual and necessary expenses (see Bylaw 12.1.2.1.4.1).
16.02.3 Extra Benefit An extra benefit is any special arrangement by an institutional employee or a representative of the institution's athletics interests to provide a student-athlete or the student-athlete's relative or friend a benefit not expressly authorized by NCAA legislation. Receipt of a benefit by student-athletes or their relatives or friends is not a violation of NCAA legislation if it is demonstrated that the same benefit is generally available to the institution's students or their relatives or friends or to a particular segment of the student body (e.g., foreign students, minority students) determined on a basis unrelated to athletics ability. (Revised: 1/10/91)
16.1.1.3 Student-Athlete Not Regularly Enrolled Awards received by a student-athlete participating in an event while not enrolled as a regular student during the academic year, or received during the summer while not representing his or her institution, shall conform to the regulations of the recognized amateur organization that governs the competition. Such awards may include gift certificates, but may not include cash.

LSU-TAMU scores: (30) 34 23 16 Wow, even without the box score you can imagine the write-up tomorrow. That's the danger of having a lot of freshmen on the court - once they get down, there's no team spirit and experience to pull things back together. LSU starts 2 sophomores and and a freshman so they aren't exactly senior laden. They are just a really good volleyball team that plays great defense and has INCREDIBLE team speed.

Unfortunately, we Gopher fans want the Gophers to be better than they probably really are....guess we'll see if there is really that much difference once the full team is intact. I hope so!
