Texas loses to Cal Poly, after being up 2 games. Stanford gets beaten by BYU. Hawai'i gets swept by Florida at the SSC. Minnesota loses and (R)uffda sprains his ankle falling off of the soapbox. This is turning into a very interesting weekend.

This type of weekend is why I love the sport (as long as the Gauchos win)

This type of weekend is why I love the sport (as long as the Gauchos win) If there was no beer in sight, would you still love the sport, my friend?

What I love about what's going right is; talent is being spread all around. I love that fact that it's just not 5 programs dominating the league. There are many teams that can step up to the plate.
How could anyone doubt Cal Poly after what Jon did at St Marys.
I love this sport.
No time for spellcheck. gotta run.

The only clear thing in this young season is that there is no clear-cut favorite(s) to win it this year. Something that doesn't happen very often lately(except maybe 2004.)

This season is going to be really unpredictable. No one is undeatable. If this continues, should be an exciting tournament in December.

After last weekend I though Texas was going to ba a force all season. Agreed it is going to be an interesting season with everyone testing the waters. PSU by the end of the weekend had a 6/1 going with mostly Glass. Libero's are up in the air with price hardly playing yesterday and and Holehouse making the All tournament team. Glass put up great #'s splitting the setting position. Fawcett and Hodge put up huge #'s against Duke. Fawcett once again MVP of the tourney. Her hitting % alot better than the end of the season last year.

Who is going to give Nebraska the best run for its money? Houghtelling is out this year - so that shows a little weakness for the huskers. If PSU can hold it together for the bulk of the season - they will be the ones to contend with... if they don't flub it up in regionals this time around -- they really messed that up, as they will have to travel to their regional site this year. At least they can blame it on the travel (repeat from 2004 when they HAD to go all the way to Seattle)

Unless Florida sinks quickly, I think the Nittany Lions will be doing the hula in December....

What I don't like is that it leaves #1 to Nebraska and PSU, and neither one of them is a #1 team, imho. Not yet anyhow.

They are as much as anyone that is for sure. I certainly felt Stanford was the best team and Texas was second, but Stanford and Texas have said that they aren't. I have seen PSU and am aware of Nebraska, and they have as much and as little claim to #1 and #2 as anyone. Not that a loss means everything but, Texas and Stanford did not lose to other top 5-10 teams. This year is wide open. On any given night!
