was just watching K5 news and Russel Yamanoha said that there are unconfirmed reports that both Kanoe and Tara could be done for the season or at least a very good portion of the season. The fact that it was the 2nd story on the news cast shows how severe these injuries are for Kanoe and Tara.

I was not impressed at all with Kitaguchi. Too many bad passes on free balls, even the over head passes were off, and too many balls dropped in front of her. She's not good at all.

Well if Houston can just become more consistent with everything, they both could become All-Americans this season. No way Houston is an All-American this year ~ maybe before the end of her career, but she is too raw in every area to be an All-American. While I liken Sarah's game to Kahumoku's, she's a step behind Kahumoku in just about every facet ~ not All-American this year either. You're right in that Mason isn't Kahumoku. She doesn't have Lily's extensive shot repetoire nor her ability to play defense and pass, but if she can keep playing this consistently, averaging 4-5 kills a match and hitting in the upper .200's and lower .300's, I think she has a good shot at earning All-American honors this season. Houston is raw, her hitting is still inconsistent, her passing is average at best, and her defense is still improving, but again if she can get into a rhythm and become more comfortable I think she too could be an All-American this season.

since greg's back in, who's on the bench now? thomas or sanders? in G3 Gregory and Sanders were at MB. Thomas at opposite. it seemed to work... if the passing was there. it wasn't the passing on serve receive that was a real issue tonight, it was HI's passing in transition that was inconsistent. Mason won this match tonight. 'Nuff said... Lee was steady. The middles too. I really like how Gregory is playing with so much more confidence. I'd like to see Thomas stay at the RS. Thurlby was steady. She's quick, but not the quickest first step to the ball. Houston's hitting was off. Her timing w/Thurlby wasn't there tonight. I've noticed that Houston's overall play follows her hitting... if it goes south, so does the rest of her game. Shoji rotated the army of DS's into the game wholesale throughout the match. For the most part, it was to the detriment of the passing game. But, FWIW, I can see what Shoji is doing -- he's trying to give them chances to get used to being on the court in an actual game setting. None of them have significant experience in this regard (maybe save Woolford/Ong). Passing is a hugely mental task -- and the DS's just need to get used to playing on the court and not be intimidated by it all... Hawaii is suddenly not very deep... I hope Hittle and Kamanao get well soon...

I agree that Houston is not AA candidate yet. Mason resembles Kahumoku, and if she continues tonight's play from here on, she should be all american. ANd If Hawaii wins the title, even MVP.

And Duggins wasn't even jumpserving either. I hope she's not afraid, i'd rather have her get errors jumpserving, than having her serves get dug up rather easily(or into the net). Ong needs to fix her hair or something; she looks like she just got out of bed. (Still, i'm biting my tongue after this comment). Anyway, I know she's a good server so let's just hope she'll be good by the end of the season.

Hawaii just beat Fairfield tonight, not Nebraska. I highly doubt the Wahine will get that far in the NCAA's anymore. Final Four is a distant goal now.

Nice to hear a TRUE fan!!! But seriously, the Wahine players are not the only players out there. Many, many other players will be more qualified for AA status this year. AA players are polished and dominating ... and not just against a team like Fairfield. I love your positive outlook though.

Duggins not jump serving against quality teams is understandable as getting the serve in is the main goal, but her not jump serving against lower quality teams is a bit troubling. She does have a great jump serve but it seems that at the moment she has no confidence in it. Here's hoping she'll bring that back...maybe tomorrow.

Well when the team is struggling like it is now, first with passing and now with injuries, you have no other option but to think that it has to get better right...lol. I really believe that this team still has potential, but like numerous other posters on this board have said, it's whether they can reach it, which is the question.

So you're trying to tell me that you 100% disagree with that, and The Infamous Rainbow Wahine will get to Omaha and REALLY challenge some of the TOP teams for the title. .....Seriously?
