After watching Mary Batis for the 2nd time this year, I am going to go with her. The Aggies killed Loyola in 3, and she was the big gun. They are playing really good so far, so if they keep it up as a team, she is my pick!
But for my team, the longhorns! Should be a fun game against penn state tonight! Hooker needs to contribute more in the offense to win tonight...HOOK 'EM

Hana Cutura. Give her a nice and high outside set, and I don't think it's coming back.

I haven't heard of this Batis. I think TAMU has to get some big wins for her to be a candidate first. I say the frontrunner is Hodge or Cutura. And let's see how Carico does at SC.

I'm going to throw Rachel Holloway's name into the hat. She is really running the Huskers' attack at a high pace right now.

She was freshman of the year in high school, and all american with alamo volleyball club, top 50 recruit. She is the real deal!

Position, strengths, etc. Oh and Holloway is a redshirt freshman so she's no eligible for FOY.

How about Alisha Glass from PSU?
Against Texas, she had 8 kills, .438, 63 assists, 16 digs, 7 blocks, and set PSU to a .320 hitting percentage.
She's been putting up nice blocking and attacking stats for most of the season from the setting position... she should have had 9 kills and no errors, but the refs jobbed her on a lift call.
(I thought the refs had a lot of calls that were very pro-UT)

Batis has been overated for several years now. I'll throw in Taylor Barnes' name 9-1 so far and MVP of 2 tournaments. Big impact compared to the others mentioned.

Interesting to think that FOY could be a battle between teammates simply to get Conf and Regional FOY. Who is more important to PSU? Glass or Hodge. Looks like Glass at this point, but PSU is in the enviable position that if either were not available they'd have another FOY candidate or former Big10 FOY come in... Russ just pisses me off sometimes.

Glass seems like a strong competitor, but I wouldn't rave about her setting at this point. Her location needs a lot of work still and she did chuck a few in last night's match. Past freshman setters like Thompson, Kehoe, and Bremner looked sooooooo much better than Glass. Maybe some day she'll be great.

She is a very smart hitter and a lot of fun to watch. Oh, and she puts up a huge block! I am not saying she will win but she is in my top three with Engle and Glass.
