don't think elyse will get it especially since she was out for the first half of the season. she is an amazing player and should definitely be named to the All-Frehsmen Team. I think the freshman of the year goes to LSU's freshman middle, Lauren DeGirolamo. Elyse only missed 4 matches(USC, UGA, Bama, Auburn). DeGirolamo is a redshirt, I didn't think they were eligible.

if redshirts aren't eligible then i think elyse gets it. she has really solidified florida's passing and defense. they're the team that lost to usc without her and the team that beat ut last night with her. and the mvp i think is daniela romero, setter LSU. the bottom line is LSU is not even close to what they are this year without her.

Sunday results(will keep updating here)
UF 3, UK 0(30-25, 30-23, 32-30) UT 3, Auburn 1(30-22, 27-30, 30-18, 30-27) MSU 3, Arkansas 0(30-28, 30-25, 30-20) LSU 2, Ole Miss 1(30-23, 24-30, 30-24) Bama 3, UGA 0(30-24, 30-25, 30-22)
I think Arkansas has played themselves out with 2 sweeps in Mississippi. Terrible weekend for them.

I find myself in the very strange position of rooting for Mississippi, only because I want Wisconsin to stay ahead of them in the rankings.

Final 2006 SEC Standings Florida 19-1 LSU 16-4 Alabama 12-8 Kentucky 11-9 Tennessee 10-10 Ole Miss 10-10 Arkansas 9-11 Miss. State 8-12 South Carolina 8-12 Auburn 5-15 Georgia 2-18
Can Ole Miss get in the tournament? 2 wins over Arkansas, beat LSU, Alabama and Kentucky and finished 5th in the league are good, but I say no. If the SEC gets 6, they should get in over Arkansas. I think the league is for sure only going to get 5 now, with Tennessee grabbing that last spot. Weird league this year and a wild final weekend.

arkansas coming up short this weekend makes the SEC a 5 bid team. they have one quality win over oklahoma and that's about it and three or four bad losses. lsu losing to ole miss isn't good either and probably will end up costing them a seed in the ncaa's. it'll be interesting to see where the 5 teams end up heading though for the tournament

LSU will probably get a seed. They are still highly ranked. Also, the NCAA would like to have more seeded teams in the south to save money on travel.

If LSU isn't seeded, I can them sent to Austin, matching up with Texas in the 2nd round. That would be a good one

I don't know if they will get in or not, you guys have been around the NCAA block more than I have, but I think Ole Miss has certainly made it tougher on the NCAA committee to make a decision. Do you take a "hot" team who has won 7 of the last 10 including wins over Alabama, Arkansas and #11 LSU?
Do you do like they do in other sports and look for "new blood" to bring into the tournament to help bring interest to the sport in other areas?
Do you take a Tennessee team that went to the Final Four last year but is down their best player and gone 4-6 down the stretch?
Or do you just extend six bids to the SEC?
I think they've certainly got some things to think about.
Redshirt freshmen are eligible for Freshman of the Year, also. I checked into that over the weekend.
Good luck to the SEC teams playing in non-conference tournaments this weekend!

Regardless of whether or not they get in, I think Getzin is a lock for SEC Coach of the Year. They were picked to finish last in the SEC West and 11th overall and ended up 5th overall. Really great job by him and his staff and those players.

In years past, it was pretty easy to determine all SEC awards. I've been thinking about them for a few days now and if they go with the 7 on 1st team like they did last year, I think several deserving players are gonna be relegated to 2nd team. I'm really struggling to come up with a list, esp. when it comes to 1st team setters and middles. It will be interesting to see who wins what, cause I think the races are very tight for 1st team honors, POY and FOY honors.
