everyones picking Michigan to upset Purdue in Ann Arbor... is UM that good?!?! PURDUE IS #11 in the nation, and coming off a great road series against 2 tougher squads in cali. Purdue is picking up in the blocking dept. and has 4 solid OH's that can play with the best of em.. Purdue's serving is steller, the only gray area so far has been the passing and pardon the pun but Sam Gray and Linds Shondell setting rotations.
Boilers in 4

Yes, Michigan is very good. Easterfall obviously has no idea how hard it is to win on the road in the Big Ten. The Big Ten is totally different than the Pac 10 or any other conference in terms on winning on the road. The crowds are huge, vocal and a factor in the match. It would not surprise me at all if Michigan wins this match. Michigan has a very hostile and rude environment. The same can be said about Wisconsin playing at Ill. Teams like Ill and Michigan are very hungry and are going to beat good teams at home. I like Michigan and Ill in 4.

I've been to a lot of road Big Ten Games last year in support of the boilers, and Yes I know it's hostile, It's unfortunate that Purdue has their Homecoming FB game on the same weekend as the matches. The boilers have tons of experience in Hostile crowds and know that they can overcome a lot. I'm giving UM credit, but I still think Purdue will come out on top

There's just something not quite right about playing volleyball in a former swimming pool though. The opposing fans oughta just say "glub, glub, glub" a and micmick the home team drowning when the Wolverine fans get rude.

Purdue will be victorious OR we'll have a better idea of how good Michigan is.

Oh yeah, don't discount what Purdue Students know about road games in the Big Ten. Some of them travel. PSU, Wisconsin, Northwestern for sure last year that I remember seeing them. HECK YES, The student section for the boilers went crazy last year at NW and Wisconsin and PSU and OSU, IU, and Illinois. Too bad we didn't plan a trip this year to Michigans because of the HC football game here in West Laf, but be sure to look for us.. .coming to a big ten arena near you.. LOOK OUT BTFU

I think Michigan's crowd won't exactly be huge, which is a drawback of playing in an 1,800 seat arena. The former swimming pool is a good place to watch a match, but they have an unfortunate cap in fan support. It hasn't been much of an issue except versus MSU, but it could be. The one time I went to Michigan, though, I noticed that sports other than football don't seem to get a ton of support, despite the fact that many of them win a lot. They were trying to get people to a men's soccer game for free the weekend I was there.
Where is the toughest arena in the Big Ten? Not necessarily the toughest place to win, because PSU wins a lot everywhere, for example, but the most difficult court for the visiting team. I would guess Huff Hall. The students there are very vocal and much better behaved than Wisconsin students at anything-they actually have cheers that don't involve vulgarity. They didn't have a ton to say when Wisconsin controlled most of the match last year, but they can be a factor if Illinois is in the match. I would guess that Minnesota and Purdue, with the recent resurgence, are tough as well.

I would guess Huff Hall. If you mean overall arena/environment/crowd... Michigan. If you mean only the court... Iowa. (It's somewhat better now, assuming they continue their practice of running the VB court side-to-side across one end of the BB court, and curtain off the rest of the gaping hole called Carver-Hawkeye.

When I was in college, and IU was on the road at Huff Hall, the student section, in unison, chanted in time with the band, "(The F Word) y0u!" Over and over and over again. I couldn't believe it. Meanwhile, at IU, three club men's players got kicked out of the gym for writing on a dry erase board, "Start the bus!" I never thought that was quite fair. Ah, such is life.

Huff Hall is a horrible place to play. The students are on the floor with you.

Some quotes about the Boilermaker Student Section from last year: (note all these quotes were when the boilermakers were ON THE ROAD)
Katie Weismiller (Indiana's Head Coach): "You guys are the best fans in the big ten" "Truely a great organized Student Section"
Security Worker at Wisconsin " You guys are really a class act, too bad other schools do not support their teams like you guys do"

Come to Belin Court at the Boiler Box we'll show you the best Big Ten atmosphere for volleyball you have ever seen. Students are loud, proud, not offensive, polite to the opposition, and the most passionate of any other schools.

I've attended v'ball games at Huff Hall for 15 years and have never heard the student section cheering any obscenities. They can be obnoxious, definitely, but not obscene. Hardin has made a concerted effort to create a family-friendly environment at Huff and would never tolerate this behavior.
