I heard two years ago, Hebert almost pulled his team off the floor at Michigan because the fans were so rude with so many personal attacks toward players. I wrote to the Michigan AD and the BigTen officials coordinator about it. The reply I got back from the UofMI was that they didn't see any of what I was talking about (and claimed to have heard "Jen is better"). In 2005, however, the behavior was much better. In fact, I had to chuckle when one of the fans in The Zone -- who had a white-board and marker -- wrote a sign that said "Hey #15 -- save some tape for the rest of us!" (Paula's leg was wrapped pretty much ankle to hip, except for her knee.)

I am disappointed though that they don't do the "Who put that net there?" cheer more often. They used to do it every time the opponent had a net serve (this was many years ago), and it is actually one that opposing teams used to even find funny. Yeah P-dub, we try to be the best fans in the big ten, we cheer For our team instead of AGAINST the other team. and i'll try to get the guys doing the who put that net there more often. GO BOILERS

Fans always ‘talk’ to the visiting team servers, so more or less it is considered as a part of the game. However if it really gets out of control (somebody mentioned shoes dangling above the head of the player) there is a proper way to have it solved – the player and her coach need to talk to the ref…I’ve seen a ref who emptied the whole section behind the back line of the visiting team before he let the game go. Same goes for Minnesota... the Sports Pavilion staff likes to keep it to a very dull roar. There was one match last year where someone had a tambourine - they made them stop playing it!

I'm getting it third-hand, but apparently, the student section (the risers below the clubroom at the east end) needed a stern talking-to last weekend. Bummer when it happens.

I think they just told them to stop leaning over the ropes. They were still just as vocal, and even led a cheer later in the match... just getting a little too close for comfort to those Flyers

I'm not sure the fans yelling at players is always as annoying as ESPN putting their "boom cam" directly over the server's head so she can't jump serve like happened during the Final Four at San Diego in 2001.

(Paula's leg was wrapped pretty much ankle to hip, except for her knee.) I wrote to the music director a couple of years ago and told him that he had a talented bunch of misicians--music-wise but a real bunch of losers (only in other words) when it came to their display of attitudes and sportsmanship regarding the opposing players. At that time there was a tv commercial that tried to show how the Big Ten promoted sportsmanship, fair play, etc and I know the Michigan sports director or somewhat resonable facsimilie was on their saying how Michigan supported the goodness of sportsmanship. He was cc'ed the email. Neither replied, as I expected. Honestly, though I didn't get to all the Big Ten sites, Michigan were the worst fans. I can't see how any others could be worse. The last time I was there we had to ask the staff of the building to keep an eye on the trouble makers who insisted on running back and forth in front of us while the match was on, obviously showing no real interest in the match itself. I was with a supporter of "our team" who was assaulted as he left the building just because he had one of "our hats" on...... Michigan fans who post here--don't go on and on to defend yourself. You will not change my mind. Oh yeah, YOUR team lost 3-0 that night.

I don't think I've ever read a post by a Michigan fan -- and there's only one listed in the Fanbase thread.

I am supposed to be a supporter of *all* Big Ten schools. Or at least the ones that house IL players on their roster. Anyway, I was sadly mistaken.
