Couple of things...
Welcome to the Big Ten, French girl. 13 kills 14 errors on 45 swings. -.022 hitting %. Ouch! Maybe she should can the attitude & trash talk until she can have more kills than errors.
OSU should put Meyer back in the middle. All she hits is slides anyway. Move Stevens back to OH. OSU needs another offensive option.

Wow. They gave up, didn't they? OSU subbed Jones in as a _middle_ there in game 3. That was ugly.

I'm not trying to pick a fight. But I don't think it's Main's block -- although I'm sure that's part of it. OSU passed terribly, reacted poorly to tips, dug very few balls even when they were in position. Then they made hitting error after hitting error.
Maybe it's all the Lions. I'm guessing it wasn't. I'm also guessing that this won't get it done in the NCAAs, but that's a long ways away.
Gawd, I hope there's a team or two in the Big10 that can give these gals a match. A block would be a nice start.

Stevens really isn't an offensive option, which is why they are in the line-up they are.

I respect your opinion, the disparity in kills (which was enormous)usually is not an indicator of ball control, 5--10 years ago when someone wasn't blocking, or putting up a big block you could still play great defense. These athletes are touching 10'7 and tearing the cover off the ball, those day's are over. I didn't think OSU was very good defensively, but the disparity in the two teams passing and ballhandling wasn't that great, the net play was worlds apart. Minnesota, Wisconsin and maybe Purdue will be able to match up better, but not sure enough. PSU still has it's challenges, Hodge will struggle at some point, she is a freshman, the other two players in their 6-2 rotatations had 3 kills combined, and none after the middle of game two. When Hodge struggles (and she will) than what? Salyer is better offensively than Price, but still not a force by any stretch. PSU has their challenges, but every coach in the country would welcome them with open arms. The fact that PSU has so much that they can improve on is what should scare people the most.

That's what concerns me, as a Gopher fan. I _know_ PSU is going to get better.

Or they just may wear Hodge out, by relying upon her too much.

For a crew with such strong middles...it is suprising that they relied on Hodge so much. Sure she is the top sprog and a tremendous hitter, but so are all the other players on Penn State. I think if they want to continue to do well this season, Penn state will need to spread the ball out better. OSU, I'm glad you put up a fight in game 2. Much better showing than last year.

What position is Stevens playing? OH? I am surprised she has not gotten stronger since her freshman year. ...and what happened to Royal (from TX/Skyline) Maybe old news - but thanks to anyone that can update! Oh - and if you saw what I saw in last year's state all-star match (Simons blocked numerous times by an under 6'0" middle from somewhere in southern Ohio), you wouldn't be surprised if she lost her game tonight!

...and what happened to Royal (from TX/Skyline) Maybe old news - but thanks to anyone that can update! She quit the team. From what I heard, her body could not take the physical workouts. For at least the past 2 years she's had back problems. That's what I heard - I don't know if there's more to it.

Glass needs to get the middles involved she is not getting the quick attack. She is comfortable setting the outside and that will be a huge problem down the road. Yantz in the warmups last weekend was a lot better settng the quick. Hopefully she will connect with the middles as well as the outsides. Hodge is a beast!

Can anyone tell me the rules of an Director of Volleyball Operations? Ms Rockwell is titled that for PSU. I thought this position could NOT coach. Tv sure gave the impression she was doing all but talking to the players directly.
