PSU has 3 non-block hitting errors so far.
Hard to beat a team when they are that crisp
(alhtough Hodges just hits wide)

OH's with only two errors in 57 att's, hitting over .500 against a very good defensive team. Who is gonna beat PSU other than PSU?

Yeah, Purdue's block could be better, but...
Teams really trading blows right now. Purdue playing powerfully, too

Teams really pounding offensively. This is good stuff. Unfortunately, PSU pulls out 29 - 26

I suggest POW not POY. Fawcett or Hodge will be POY.

OK, game 1 needs little comment. You will not see a much better played game anywhere. It started with the serve, as the Lions served so tough, putting every ball right on the sideline. Got Purdue diving sideways, and that led to nothing.
So let's go to games 2 and 3.
Obviously, there is room for improvement for Purdue there. They didn't slow Penn St down much at all. But I have to say, Penn St didn't slow Purdue down much, either. 32 digs for PSU, 31 for Purdue. A few extra blocks for PSU, but they were close in games 2 and 3 in blocks.
Aside from the obvious, I did see the one area where Purdue really lacks, and that is in the aggressiveness around the net. They did a very poor job of putting balls away that were hanging above the net (I think Merlau did it once, but that was it). There were chances for Purdue in this match, and those points would have made a huge difference.
For he most part, Purdue traded punches with Penn St in games 2 and 3. It's just that you can't trade punches with a team this good. They get two steps ahead, and the game is over.
It's a darn good team.

That could be National POY and FOY as well. Has that ever happened?

Yes it has. In 2003, Hawai`i's Kim Willoughby was POY and Kanoe Kamana`o was FOY. That could be National POY and FOY as well. Has that ever happened?
