This is pretty depressing for the rest of the Big Ten, as this was a match where you thought PSU would meet a strong test and they were able to sweep. It is good that the Boilers hung in for the last two games, but you have to close out games on good teams when you have the chance.

I was one of what appeared to be two PSU fans to make the trip to West Lafayette. I met my brother in Indianapolis and we went together and we were both very pleased with the level of volleyball that was played. State played a fantastic match. Not to take anything away from Purdue, they played a great match, but it wasn't enough. Purdue was a lot better than I expected. They are just about as big and athletic as us. Tough serving by both teams. With the exception of the first game, the match was about as even as it gets. I must admit, I hadn't been as nervous as I was tonight all year. Being outnumbered by about 2-3000 screaming Purdue fans and sitting watching their Boilers almost take a couple games from us really gave me a scare. But, we prevailed, in style, with a sweep victory.

Ruffda, Thus the word "could" Will Fawcett and Hodge not be strong candidates if not favorites?

Holiday of course it is pre-mature, but nearly every thread on the site is, given the fact so much has to be played out. But, answer my question, at this point are those two not serious candidates for national POY and FOY? I suggest if you named the three top candidates right now, they would be on the list, if not on top of it.

I think the one thing that might keep Nicole Fawcett off the top of the POY list is that she doesn't even average a dig a game....thats kind of bad for an OH.

How is Hodge's passing/defense? I can't support giving xOY to anyone who is just a hitter and not a volleyball player.

Being not even halfway through the season however alot can change. I have my list also but much will ride on how the step it up toward the end of the season. I am not sure I would even classify Fawcett in my top three.

Fawcett does not play back row most of the time Fidler comes in for her.
