the crowd tonight were definitely pro-HI. Amber's friends were really funny. It seemed like every time the SJSU student pep squad section would cheer or make noise, Amber's friend responded in an even more boisterous manner

Does Mike Sealy have a bum right shoulder? He seemed to be favoring it a lot during warmups. Perhaps years of abuse playing volleyball and now, days and days and days of vb drills? I felt sorry for the Poor guy.

The San Jose State pep squad was a joke. They didn't do anything for the crowd. Even the San Jose State fans didn't get a rise from that squad.

Does anyone know if Houston has an injury? She has some sort of cast/brace on her left calf area.

Oh, Hawaii wore all-black unis (my LEAST favorite, btw) and San Jose State wore white w/ blue shorts.

Now, here's something I want to know: why are those team sweat pants they wear after the game so looooong? They're just dragging on the ground/court when they walk around in them. I mean, they get dirtier faster that way. What's up with that? I don't get the fashion.

Has anyone else ever played with those blue and white balls? They seem really light to me and just floats so easily. I guess I am used to the RWB Molten Pro Touch - those seem to be a bit heavier...more of a hitter's ball I guess

There was another funny sequence of points, which, I don't know if anyone noticed. In the 2nd game, San Jose State kept serving Sarah Mason the ball because she was shanking it or passing poorly. Mason knew she was a target. Unperturbed, she gave the server the stink eye and waved her hand in a "Come on, give me what you got..." kind of gesture. She did this two or three times. It was subtle but I SAW IT MAAAAAAN!! I love the girl for her spunk. Oh, she shanked the next pass again. Doh! I remember her doing this during a match last year. I haven't seen her do it this year. I will watch for it at the next match. It must be common for her.

The bench players:
Cayley came in games 2 and 3 for Kari Gregory to serve. The first time, there was a mini-rally and Hawaii won the point and Cayley jumped up and down and screamed and got pumped. Love her. Yes.
Elise Duggins came in games 2 and 3 for Raeceen, I think. The first time...disaster. Shanked one pass and got aced on another. The second time, she did okay, but nothing spectacular. She served, too.
Raeceen...not impressed with her. Seems like she's never in position. But how should I know? I don't.
Jessica Keefe. Love this girl. Didn't get a kill. Got some swings, but not the full-onslaught kind. Kanoe and Jessica did not connect well. Shanked a pass or two. Once, she tried to pass with her hands and the ball landed flat in front of her. Something you'd see in rec league.
Amber Kaufman: see above. Maaan, I didn't know she had a huge tatoo that runs from her lower back to...perhaps down her butt. A few fans sitting next to me commented on it.

I gotta say this...Sarah Mason is a stunner. She should model or act or just stand around looking beautiful. Skinny girl, in an Alicia Arnott kind of way. But not.
Cayley Thurlby has to be the most muscular or muscularly toned girl on the team. Say, who was she talking to after the match? A trio of Asians. Oh, wait, I take that back. Kari Gregory, without her top, has an impressive upper body. Muscles and tone, I mean, ya pervert.
tried to reach them but I fell off the upper section onto the hard court floor in a thud. They had to wheel me off in a stretcher. Did anyone see that? It was embarrassing.

Oh...forgot to comment on our serves...I was not impressed with that aspect of our game either. Duggins did not bust out her jumper which I have read/heard on VT that it is decent. Sarah Mason has a pretty good jump float. Jamie Houston tries to imitate the jump float of Mason, but it is currently not up to par. Everyone else just lollipops the ball over. If SJSU was a better team, I would definitely thank Hawaii for the early Christmas or birthday presents. The balls were very very easily passable.
