This week is critical for UCSB, we first host Pepperdine then we play at Cow Poly. If we don't get at least a split, our post season will be in grave doubt. Therefore, we need a win tonight. I am out unitl at least 11:30 tonight so I will miss most or all of the match. Go Gauchos! oh, and Pablo has UCSB at 40 and Pepperdine at 38 so a UCSB loss tonight would be an upset loss (home court advantage.)

I think that this is actually a more desperate situation for Pepperdine. If they lose this match, they fall to a 6-9 record with a lot of tough matches still to play in the WCC. It's not quite so do or die for the Gauchos, but a win tonite would greatly enhance their chances for a tournament bid.

Don't worry gauchos, you will win this match. Pepp's figurehead of a coach will not have them prepared for this match, especially since it's on the road.

Now remember, Pepperdine struggled early on last year as well, but then made a nice run in the playoffs. I'm a Gaucho fan, but I think it would be an upset for us to beat the Waves. UCSB has also been sort of a Jekyl & Hyde team this year.

What's with all the comments about the Pepperdine coach? Are y'all talking about Nina? I mean, I don't really care for her either, but that has more to do with her personality than her coaching. I was sort of under the impression that she was pretty successful.

The topic of Pepp's coach has been beaten into the ground. Yes, the team would probably do much better if they had a better coach. I remember seeing the Pepp/USC match a while back that actually went to 5 games. Pepp's Milo was on fire that match which probably got them to the 5th game. During the short break before the 5th game started, Mick Haley had all his players in a circle most likely discussing strategy. On the other hand, Pepp's coach was running around, I guess getting the lineup together, and not even speaking to her players about what needed be done to win the match. I guess she was relying on momentum soley. I really don't know. All that I do know is those players really could use a better coach.

And here's the advertisement for the new coach Wanted: D1 Volleyball coach Will be expected to make a trip to the final 4 at least once every 4 years and deliver a national championship at least once every six years. Percs: You will be recieving a below average salary while living in a very high cost of living area. Your assistant coaches will all recieve a below living wage with respect to the same area. You will be allowed one out of state scholarship. You will be expected to schedule all non-conference matches within bus distance unless the opposing school pays for trip. Your initial practices and home matches will be held in alternate locations due to conflicting sports camps. If one of your home matches conflict with either men's or women's basketball, you will be scheduled into an alternate facility. You and you staff will have to provide all community outreach and promotion as we have neither budget or staff to provide that. We do have a small sign we will place outside the athletic building the night of a match. Oh, and given the incredible volleyball environmet at UCSB, don't bother to apply unless you already have won multiple national championships. themecca, don't ask for it, you might get it...

Speaking of "lack of salary". I'm sure their "volleyball camps" make up for the meager wages.

You gotta love CSTV. 1st match I watch, audio and video 2nd, audio cuts out at the end of game 4 3rd no audio, they say they'll get back to me by email, they never do 4th no audio, the "service" rep asks me what I want him to do 5th match (Pepperdine tonight) no video, they say they'll look into it
