Just because you can't use a player doesn't many there isn't value by not letting anyone else use her either. Good player on your bench means one less player you have to face.

How many releases for Players have happened thus far this year? What's the standing on transferrred palyers? Do they ever do well at a new school? Rumor has it that one player at PSU asked for a release and now funny thing she gets to play!

Furthermore to my last rambling, I've seen a lot of situations unfold where parents get involved with the coaches to 'protect' their daughters. Things like the player asking for a release and now getting playing time are examples of this type of situation.
Not only does that go against the sytem of building an elite team, but it severely damages team chemistry and the drive that forces the 'system' of each player improving their skills to see the court.

Parents should be eliminated. A team of test tube kids, that's what's needed.

They can't acheive sqat by being bench warmers.I think it severely damages the team chemistry when only the same players are played.

First, if they are not playing now, they have a very small chance to play at the next level. Second, because they have such a small chance to continue playing at another level, it would be beneficial to prove their corporate world skills and/or take advantage of a free education. Lastly, how can you say that it damages team chemistry when only a core group of players are on the court?! I don't understand that viewpoint, I guess.

Hhmm.. "building an elite team"... just how does that work with great players not seeing the court? How does that work in building an elite team? players like Yanz deserve to be ON the court, not sitting and just being glad to be on a winning team. How do we know that parents are behind any releases?

Don't you think being pushed in practice is part of what makes a team elite?

If a team wins with one setter, don't 'fix' it. Get the other one in to mop up and keep skills fresh, though (coaches that don't do this are just bad). If a team is getting slaughtered, and doesn't change the setter, that is very bad coaching. I don't think that is the case here. They can't acheive sqat by being bench warmers.I think it severely damages the team chemistry when only the same players are played.
