Don't go getting too cocky spike. The AVCA voters will turn on you in flash! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

True enough. I'm sure, even as we type, they're just dying to elevate Pepperdine again.

Yes, but they didn't "leapfrog" OSU and Tennessee. We can only give you partial credit -- for BYU and Cal Poly. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) It would be interesting to see what a loss to Wisconsin would do to them, but I don't want to find out.

I think the leapfrog teams you were initially talking about were San Diego, Ohio and some other school that dropped out of the poll since then (Pepperdine? -- it's been a while). I'm just using your terminology. And I don't want to find out about that, either. Can't wait to see that match, though. PS This must be the second week in a row Minnesota gained more points than any other school, right?

Just San Diego and Ohio.
I'm not doing the math on your 2nd question.

I feel totally justified in an "I told you so" here, both in terms of Minnesota "leapfrogging" over ALL the teams that others on the board said were unleapfroggable and in suggesting that AVCA voters will finally begin to get with the program in terms of where Big Ten teams should be ranked. Not all the way there yet, but a few weeks more and this poll might actually make sense in terms of the Big Ten. And I predicted the exact number of spots MN would move up in the poll. Now, to deal with the Purdue weirdness... I salute you on your coinage of the descriptor, "unleapfroggable". I would like to request your permission to use this term in the future when summarizing long Hawai'i articles for Wolfgang. Thanks, in a van.

Mary just said on her show she voted Stanford #3. Now talking about Minnesota and their poll position, talking about the starters being out at the start of the season because of some ridiculous thing and how stupid the NCAA can be at times. Brings up Europeans playing in college who get more money than that but don't have to sit out any matches, but she digresses. She voted Minnesota higher than they are in the poll because of it, cause their record doesn't reflect how good they are.

It's yours. Feel free to conjugate, too, as in "Hawaii demonstrated their unleapfroggability with a lackluster win over Boise State."

Cal didn't take a game off of Washington. UW swept both Cal and Stanford that weekend.

To tell the truth, I think Cal is a bit high right now. They don't have any bad losses, but they don't have too many impressive wins, either. I know they are a good team, but shouldn't you actually have to beat someone to be in the top ten by this point in the season? They will have plenty of chances and probably will get some nice wins, but I would drop them into the teens until then.

Edited slightly.
I think this is a little more fair. Unfortunately, it doesn't help Cal's case.
