I have seen the Qwest Center in Omaha and it will be the best venue ever for the Volleyball Final Four!

It will be the best event ever, volleyball in a sold out arena, of people who love and appreciate volleyball. It's great for the support. If Nebraska is fortunate enough to get in, that place will be nuts. Our sport needs this atmosphere badly.

I agree. As much as I whined about the lack of opportunity to purchase tickets a packed house in an appropriate venue (i.e. no domes, no castoff arenas) will hopefully attract some much needed attention.

It is an amazing place and should be grand. One request - no alcohol. It sends the wrong message when you serve alcohol at NCAA events. Even if it is the bar for the boosters, etc. Just don't serve alcohol....

Now if only Omaha can compete with Madison's and Minneapolis' subzero temps then they each hosted the a WVB Final Four. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I am tired of hearing how much Nebraska fans love volleyball... they don't love volleyball: they love Nebraska volleyball. I've attended two different tournaments involving Nebraska... an early season tournament in San Diego in 1998 and the Final Four in San Diego in 2001. When Nebraska wasn't playing, their fans did not show up. If Nebraska loses in a national semi-final at the Qwest Center, expect no more than a half-full arena for the national finals... and that's assuming that the AVCA convention is still in town.
The College World Series arrangement, which features Omaha in a good month (June), has been undermined by Nebraska's success in baseball, making Rosenblatt Stadium a partisan site for the tournament. The Qwest Center is not even close to being a neutral site for volleyball. Putting the Final Four there every year, or every other year, would be flagrantly unethical... and it would likely inspire the AVCA to move its convention elsewhere (who would want to come to Omaha in mid-December so often? Brrrr...).

I'm not sure whether or not Nebraska can support volleyball if the Huskers don't even make the FF, therefore i'm trying not to be as critical or negative on this whole subject. But I see your point. I also believe that you said what most other ppl on this board have all thought about the whole subject but just haven't said anything.

If Nebraska makes the Final Four, this has the potential to be one of the absolute most intense greatest Final Fours of all time in all sports. If they don't, it'll still be spectacular because I think a majority will still show up and cheer. Husker fans are pretty good volleyball fans, plus... what else are they gonna do? Count snowflakes?? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) If Hawaii is hosting... if the Rainbows are not playing, Hawaii fans can count beach sand... which would you rather do? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

The CWS is one of the great sporting events in the world, and has broken attendence records even when Nebraska wasn't a participant. And the "partisian" site sure hasn't helped the Huskers, has it? Last time I checked we were 1-6 in our 3 CWS appearances. I'm also not in favor of putting the Final 4 in Omaha permanently. However, a more thoughtful approach to selecting sites should be made. Don't put it in places that have little volleyball interest. Until the sport grows some more, put it in places where there are volleyball fans.
