Is this the one they're saying is "Stacey Junior?"
Salem volleyball coach Don Conser said what must have been on the minds of every fan during the first Division II regional semifinal at Stow on Wednesday.
"Katie Dull, Katie Dull, Katie Dull. Do you need to say anything else?" he said.
No, but then Conser did anyway.
"We didn't play all that well, but you have to look at the reason why: Katie Dull, Katie Dull, Katie Dull. She's the best high school player I've ever seen," said Conser, a veteran coach who has won 10 district titles.
Dull, a senior outside hitter, was spectacular in No. 1-ranked Walsh Jesuit's 25-12, 25-21, 25-10 semifinal victory over the fifth-ranked Quakers. She led the Warriors with 23 kills, 13 digs and four aces.

Comparing Katie Dull with Stacey Gordon is a stretch to put it mildly. However, Katie is going to be an excellent collegiate volleyball player. Displays the passion for the game that you wish all players had.

Well - gee...if she is the best high school player he has ever seen then I guess she is ranked # 1 or 2 nationally in her class?? Or is it that she is a great player in the state of Ohio - in which I have seen lots of volleyball. I would bet that is a more likely just an emotional statement ....and for that much there have been some abosolutely tremendous players in Ohio...try the class of 2004. I just can't stand it when people make comments like this. If he is being honest than I stand by my comments that he hasn't seen very much volleyball. Am happy for Jim Stone however - he needs a player that has the fire.....

I've seen her play, and she is very good. Having said that, I've also seen a lot of very good players from Ohio (where I watch high school volleyball) go to "super schools" and struggle and/or burn out. Right now Katie's a big fish in a small pond, and I hope she does well in the ocean, but we'll have to wait and see!!

And I'll say that she is not the BEST high school player in the country - period. Neither did the coach I originally quoted. Would you care to debate anything else? Politics? Incidentally, if I say she IS the best high school player, I'm no more right or wrong than you, as I haven't seen her play, either.

How did Stacey Gordon in her senior year of high school compare with Stacey Gordon as she developed even further during her collegiate career? A few remembrances: Even as a Junior, her jump serve was inconsistent. At times, she was told not to jump it (when they were in danger of losing -- which happened a lot). And her dad told me that in high school, her kill was clocked at 55mph. Holy jesus Whiz. Maybe I'll email him for a confirmation on that, but I'm pretty sure that's what he said. A friend tells me she might be playing locally for a while in a league thing. We'll have to get buckeyefan there to snap us up some pics!

Lots of talent but very fragil under presure. Seen in Club several times when the fish are bigger. The real deal for OSU is the incoming setter Betsy Hone.......nw that is a player. She will make many of us forget about the rest. ESTRELLA

Are the Buckeyes getting a player who could be a full time libero for them? I think Stevens is best as a hitter playing all around; they really need someone to come in and solidify the libero position. It reminds me of how the position rotated at Wisconsin until Wack arrived; if they could get a player like her, the Buckeyes could be really good next year.
