Wow the block really came alive towards the end of game two. They weren't letting anything past them.
Kaufman having a big night thus far, 5 kills, hitting .500 with 3 blocks.
Hawaii leads 2-0, 30-27, 30-20

Hawaii is very lucky to have Kari Gregory up at the net blocking. Her block assists made the difference in game 1 and helped Hawaii get ahead in game 2. Without her, I think we'd probably see the match tied up at one game a piece right now.
EDIT: Actually, looking at the live stats, it looks like Sanders and Kamanao are actually leading Gregory on blocks. Either way, I'm glad Hawaii is so dominant at the net!

You gotta love Sarah Mason's fire. After she solo blocked Simpson's shot she yelled at her across the net. I LOVE it!!! she did it twice! (although technically, the second time, simpson hit the ball into the net) love that fire in mason... she didn't like the bad call from the refs a few plays earlier.... After this match is over, I'm gonna rewind it to that point again and watch it. We need someone like that to fire the team up. She did it after that point and again the next point and it got the team going. Also how about Kanoe's head kill. That was unbelievable!!

OK. TV totally ignored the fact that someone from Hawaii threw the ball after NMSU made it 8-3 (on a mi%*$#). Someone may have gotten a yellow card. Maybe NMSU was just asking for a yellow card? It was after _that_ that Mason started yelling through the net. Not sure why _she_ didn't get a yellow card.
Anyhow, Aggies were toast from that point on. They just look awful. I have to think they are better than this.
Someone needs to tell Houston about attacking balls on the other side of the net. She's done it about 5 times tonight.

Without her, I think we'd probably see the match tied up at one game a piece right now. this is where HI's middles have the edge over NMSU's middles. Simpson and Oguh are very explosive offensively, but Gregory and Sanders are just more disciplined on the block. credit HI's serving so far (Mason, Houston, and Kaufman wreaking havoc with their jump floaters), and HI's passing is holding up against the tough serving of NMSU... but HI is playing with a lot of emotion so far... as they did back in HI. when they do this, they can play through all their mental mistakes and little inconsistencies... KEEP IT UP BOWS!! I'd like to see HI adjust their block to NMSU's middle attacks, especially Oguh's cross body shot... that is working very well right now for them, and if they could pass better, Choi would be feeding it more...

Sanders: 1 kill, .167, 5 blocks Gegory: 4 kills, .200, 3 blocks Houston: 9 kills, .250, 2 aces, 1 block solo Kamanao: 2 kills, .333, 25 assists, 4 blocks Duggins: 4 digs Mason: 9 kills, .368, 7 digs, 2 blocks, 3 aces Kaufman: 5 kills, .500, 3 blocks, 1 ace Lee: 5 digs
Mason is being very effective tonight. Hawaii is really going to miss her when she's gone.

KK's dig-kill (if you can even call it a "dig", b/c she just was standing there and let the shot hit her)... it was RIDICULOUS... you could even here Scott Robbs chuckle during the replay....

Same story in game 3. NMSU jumps out to a lead, then implodes. It's 15-15 and the Wahine are blocking the stuffing out of the Aggies -- when the Aggies can manage an attack.

Aggies come out of the timeout and make it 20-16. Timeout HI. 2K is still outclassing Choi. Anyone ever notice how good she is?

Aggies tried to kick it away, but pull out the 31-29 win.
I don't like their chances in game 4, if the setting doesn't improve. Choi continues to set her hitters too tight (2K, on the other hand, is putting up a consisent ball, 7-8 feet or so off the net).

Both teams continue to pass poorly.
