Nebraska will have to defeat Pac-10 Arizona just to get to the FF. Isn't it Arizona State? Arizona St. it is.

Good Grief. I will say it again..... name me 3 current Middle blockers in Div I or International players who play back row. Even internationally.... the middle blocker position has become very specialized. To blame her for not passing and playing defense is almost like blaming a libero for not getting enough kills during the season. Here is 3... Carrie Demange - Duke Nicole Brittanriker - Kentucky Danielle Meyer - Ohio State

I know of a pretty good Middle Blocker who plays back row, if only for one rotation-- Foluke Akinradewo. She usually stays in and serves before being replaced by Jess Fishburn and going out. In fact, in talking to the coaching staff it sounds as though Foluke is probably the fifth or sixth best defensive player in the team. Judging by their praise, I don't doubt that she could play back row as she matures and gets even better all around. The only problem is that if you have a good libero, who do you replace? Even if the MB plays good defense, they will still almost lose out to the libero in the back row, if only because that is the libero's specialty.

Actaully Franci has impressed me more in the backrow than Foluke.

Reading the Christal vs. Nana debate and after seeing that Taylor Carico got Pac-10 FOY (...congrats to her), I thought about another freshman setter that did not get that award when she was a freshman, Bryn Kehoe. Looking back at the stats for 2004 her assist pct. was 12.40 p/g She had 1637 total assists and 364 digs with 81 blocks (.61 blocks p/g). These numbers were actually better than Taylor's (not to dismiss her award) and Kehoe won a national championship as a freshman. Granted, they played a few more games than USC has at this point. Morrison was the PAC 10 FOY that year(2004) and she led Washington to their #1 ranking even when Tomasevic was out with an injury. Moreover, she was a 2nd team AA , I do not think Kehoe has what it takes to challenge her for that award. I am not saying that she did, nor am I complaining that she didn't get that award. I am just pointing out that her numbers were better than TC, when Kehoe was a freshman. Has nothing to do with Morrison, She's a great player and deserving! Sure, I would have liked to have seen Kehoe get Pac-10 POY but I'd also like a couple million a year salary!! Maybe Kehoe has what it takes to win the "Best Comeback Hands" award after her injury and surgury last year. ;D

As I have mentioned in an earlier post, the coaches have spoken. Why can't we just accept the fact that the coaches in the conference believed that CM was more deserving of this award. NM may have had a great year, but the coaches felt the CM offered more and rewarded her so.
