Only the limited brainpowered would constrict their thinking about NCAA powers checking the boards to get a feel of the pulse of the sport. These posts are part of the research that enters into framing opinions on eventual decisions. It happens in all sports..all boards.

I am not tired of hearing about the issue at all. I'm tired of stupid people coming here and blaming BYU for all their problems.
There has been direct evidence of professionals on BYU and Lewis given to the NCAA and AVCA. Among the AVCA college coaches there is a big controversy, especially because the NCAA has not yet provided them with a rationale on their decision to declare one of BYU's players eligible.
In the coming weeks many of these things will be made public and if the NCAA allows this continue into championship time, they will likely be faced with the same problem as the last 2 years and will probably be forced to revoke a 3rd straight championship. Something like that could destroy the sport.

Maybe the NCAA is trying to destroy this sport. I hope not.

I think not......the enemy appears to be within! Please explain what you mean. www.desnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,595055530,00.html This is a good article from the school's perspective.

Keep it business as usual, and leave it on the court.
Let the people sitting in the office cubicle’s figure out everything else.
There are plenty of other distractions for “student†athlete’s to worry about besides if their school is guilty of any violations. Everyone has to remember that their has been attempted program cuts. Just ask Ball St. how many scholarships they have this year. Lets stop throwing gas on the fire…It would be a shame if any other programs get slapped across the a** with the NCAA’s big black leather belt! No matter what everyone thinks of that school.

I found that article very eye opening. I have always thought that is didn't matter and that you should play your game and may the best man win no matter what. But the section in the article about amateur golfers and college basketball players participating with pros is a very good point. Read it if you haven't.

I don't know why people use examples like playing with professionals in a tournament as an excuse. It is perfectly legal to play with anybody you want and still be NCAA legal. The difference is that if you accept monetary compensation or compensation in any form for your playing, then you forfeit your eligibility.

To my knowledge that's not true. From multiple college coaches I've talked to when visitng all have told me that during the season you are not allowed by NCAA rules to enter beach tournaments. You can of course go play beach volleyball but cannot participate in an official tournament.

You can of course go play beach volleyball but cannot participate in an official tournament. From what I know, I thought it was alright to play in beach tournaments, as long as you didn't accept the prize money or the prize was limited or something. I remember hearing a few players got together for a tournament and played, including Hawaii's Tuyay. And I remember on the women's side, that Zartman and someone from USC (don't remember who) played in a beach tournament. Although, I have no idea what kind of tournament it was. And I thought the whole idea was that players couldn't play with professionals on certain levels. I know parts of the issue with Costas was that they might be training with the team and they get a uniform, but they aren't receiving any money or benefits. I think someone mentioned in the papers that these players are likely to be paying their own way for meals and stuff like that. All the team provides is the uniform and the travel.

I guess no one will ever really know except the NCAA and even then they only know after extensive research. I think I'll stay safe and only play for fun so as not to get in any trouble next year hehe.

Yes, there are certain leagues which have been deemed unacceptable for players to compete in even if they do not receive funds.
Sjhayseuss- How are the big four from Fresno/Clovis doing this year (Buchanan, Bullard, Clovis, CW)? I saw Buchanan got third at Dos Pueblos but no one did anything at the Parker Tourney.

See, new information all the time hehe. Anywho - Bullard got 4th at the San Diego tournament but has been hiding. They were supposed to show up at the "big 4" scrimmage but Fresno High took their place. Buchanan got 3rd as you said CW has not played well at tournaments but has picked it up a lot since then Clovis High isn't much to talk about, they have gotten much better but still aren't too much of a problem for the other three. By the way how do you know so much bout Fresno/Clovis teams, seems like all anyone knows about is the southern area
