Native Hawaiians are classified as those Hawaiians who have over 50% Hawaiian blood quatum. They're all the same. So I guess someone who has 25% Native American blood isn't Native, just American. No they are not all the same. Buy a clue before you spread misinformation. And while you are shopping for a clue, you might want to leave your ContUS logic at the doorstep of your friend OverandUnder.

"Minnesota", "Illinois", and "Dakota" are all names or words taken from First Peoples, but most Minnesotans, Illinoians, and Dakotans are genetically Teutonic, Polish, English, French, Hispanic. Since you believe that no amount of time spent living in Hawai'i can ever make anyone or their descendants Hawai'ian -- because "Hawai'ian" is contingent upon the possession and descent of a specific subgroup of deoxyribonucleic acid chains -- then by the same logic all those folks in the midwest (indeed, virtually the entire continent) are equally misnamed. Those Pedersons and Keillors are not "Dakotans" and "Wisconsinites", those Blagojevics in the midwest have never and can never become "Illinoian", and none of those Smiths and Jeppsens in Utah can ever be called "Utahans". Your mistake is applying your ContUS logic to Hawaii. Do some research and come back when you "get it". I hear and appreciate your concern for the quality of my studies on the subject. That's why it surprises me that someone so concerned about clearing up misunderstandings has in fact mis-stated the issue as completely as possible. Contrary to your now twice-repeated assertion, I have in fact taken the rubric of island logic supplied by you, and applied it to those living on the continent. Nowhere have I questioned the validity of your assertions, nor have I questioned the existence of the cultural and genetic subgroup you call Hawai'ians. I have spoken from within your own ideological framework, which is why I'm puzzled that you keep protesting yourself so forcefully.

I regret if in my posts I referred to computer technology concepts not familiar to you. If you will point out which concepts are giving you difficulty, I would be more than glad to clarify them for you. Perhaps in return, you might also contribute to our mutual enlightenment by describing to me what "it" is that you say I don't get, and helping me out by clarifying the topic from the depth of your admittedly superior knowledge of the subject.

God, will you two stop this quarrel?!? I mean, no one really cares. Let's just get back to discussing the truly meaningless items of the day. Jeeeez...

I lost my birth certificate. Was that the one for Wolfgang? Or Jewel? Quite possibly someone else?

It irritates me to no end when people from the CONTUS erroneously refer to everyone that lives in Hawaii as "Hawaiians". This is good. Arguably the most irritating person on Volleytalk (and proud of it I'm sure) is trying to get others to stop irritating him ;D

A good friend of mine always used this term instead of "the mainland" claiming that it wasn't HER mainland.
