Our dear Mumsie passed away last month… In early June 2006 Mumsie was diagnosed with advanced non-smokers lung cancer. A trip to the ER and the doctor came and said “I’m sorry; I have some devastating news for you”. In just moments, the world changed. Mumsie faced her illness with the same wisdom and dignity that was part of her persona here on VT. Dear Mumsie never gave up the fight to beat her disease, not even on her final day. Although Mumsie liked to say that she was 100+ years old; she was just 50. Mumsie is survived by her Father, Mother, Sister and Brother; three beautiful daughters 23, 20 & 13; and this BonJoeV… her husband and companion for the last 30+ years. Mumsie is missed by many; but forgotten by no one...

I am going to miss Mumsie and my heart continues to go out to you and your daughters, BonJoeV. I only had a chance to meet her once in person, but she was a great resource on Volley Talk (and Prep Volleyball) for many and a great e-friend.

My heartfelt condolences. When Mumsie scolded me -- and she did a couple of times -- I always paid attention. It's funny how one comes to respect -- and like -- someone simply on the basis of her posts. Mumsie was one of those people.

Well, this is sad news. I always pictured her in front of the computer and wearing a dress similar to the one worn by Mama in "Mama's Family" (the spinoff from a skit in "The Carol Burnett Show"). The one Vicki Lawrence wore. Probably because her name was "Mumsie" and sounded like "Mama". She never scolded me. Never. I will really miss her.

I think this is the first time I've ever experienced the death of a well known poster in all the forums that I own, operate, or otherwise frequent. Of course, there are little peeps like "vbfan298" who post only once in a while and is, for all intents and purposes, a non-entity. But "Mumsie" was well known. It's kind of shocking.
